Re: Engine Knocking - Bad!

Thanks for all the advice guys.
Failed chain tensioner on 1-3 bank was the problem. Luckily Chain locks had been fitted at last engine works so chain did not come off cauing valve/piston damage. No need for engine out as said above.
Picking up car tomorrow.

Re: Engine Knocking - Bad!

Thanks for your thoughts everyone. The noise starts gradually a few seconds after the engine starts from cold, quicker i think from warm start. It increases in frequency as engine revs increase until it is continuous. I think I have managed to load a clip of the idling sound below. Apologies if it d...

I am looking for recomendations for someone to look at the Sportomatic transmission on my 1968 911L. Can people advise on correct spark plug gap for Bosch WR5DC +15 plugs in my 1968 911L 2.0l.

Most gaps quoted for plugs ar between 12 and 18 thou but for other cars (not Porsches) gaps are quoted up to 25 thou.

Early 911L distributor/capacitor fixing

I have just had my 911L Bosch distributor refurbished. It has been returned without the capcitor I sent it away with. My original capacitor had an integral fixing strip with hole for fixing screw. The new capacitor I have from Porsche (616 602 227 00) is just a cylinder with the wire and terminal co...

Ignition Timing 1968 911L 2.0l

Car has standard 2.0l engine running Weber carburettors, Bosch distributor with no vacuum advance. I have been struggling for some time to get the engine running above 4000rpm, it's fine at lower revs apart from occassional popping on overrun. Played with timing and points gap and renewed ignition s...

Re: Blockley Tyre company

Thanks everyone for your comments. I took advantage of the Blockley offer of 4 tyres (165x15's), had the 5.5J x 15 steels powder coated and have just got round to fitting them with the hub caps I sources from US. I'm very pleased with the look close-up. Not out of my garage yet. I will post image la...

Porsche Factory Kardex information

A lot of people and adverts mention Kardex information which i assume is the original porsche factory specification of each car produced. How can one obtain the Kardex (preferably a photocopy) of an early model (1968 911L in this case)? I have a Certificate of Authenticity for my car but copies of K...
