Re: Olympic Blue / Silver metallic 1972 US Import 1.7L
After my last update I did order an engine yoke, which seemed to take a while to arrive. I have been busy with other stuff most of the weekend, but did get up to workshop late this afternoon, and lifted the engine from its resting position onto the engine stand. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e20...

Re: Olympic Blue / Silver metallic 1972 US Import 1.7L
Evening all Quick update after being away on holiday. I have put plenty of time in at the workshop this weekend, but mainly on my other vehicles. I seem to have a run of oil leaks going on at the moment, which I think I have now dealt with. Anyway, back to the 914. I have started to work through var...

Darren
I have drawn the line at 3 Porsches! 5 of us share the workshop, and between 3 of us we have 7 Porsches. I am away from my computer and therefore my photos, but we also had a guest appearance of a 1973 911 targa the other evening - a deeply beautiful car, albeit frighteningly expensive!

Re: Olympic Blue / Silver metallic 1972 US Import 1.7L
I was meant to be packing to go away on holiday tomorrow, but did find a bit of time or get to the workshop. And somehow this happened! http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e209/phillynch38/P1020078_zpshgj01rlu.jpg So, engine is out, I guess I will have to strip it down. Off on holiday for a few days, ...

Re: Olympic Blue / Silver metallic 1972 US Import 1.7L
Evening all. I think when I started posting that I would get off to a slow start given other projects going on. Well, I have been to Le Mans, Goodwood FOS, various gigs and other events. I know Darren manages such things and still gets time to see his car, but I need more sleep than him!! Anyway, I ...

I don't know what impresses me more, the rate of progress or the quality of your work! I think I will print out your updates and use it as a workshop manual!

Re: Olympic Blue / Silver metallic 1972 US Import 1.7L
Evening all I was meant to be doing something else in the workshop today, but that plan fell apart a little so I had a couple of spare hours for the 914. Previous photos show there is a dent in the front bumper. I am not terribly bothered about it as a UK numberplate will cover most of it, and I wil...

Re: Olympic Blue / Silver metallic 1972 US Import 1.7L
Evening Curiosity got the better of me today. With the exception of the battery tray area and a couple of holes in the floor which I knew about, I have been overjoyed with how great the general condition of my 914 (crappy paint aside). I figured my luck would run out at some point, so I decided to r...

Re: Olympic Blue / Silver metallic 1972 US Import 1.7L
Dave Rear window is ready to fall out. I will remove it when I get around to making a box to store it in. I have pretty much decided to get rid of the bitumen on the floor. I have had a very good look at the floor from underneath. I have two areas that need a repair, but the rest if it is very sound...

Re: Olympic Blue / Silver metallic 1972 US Import 1.7L
So, despite me saying it would be a few weeks before I get going on the 914 work, I did some more today. I borrowed a very powerful jet wash today - which cleans with heated water, and went around the wheel arches and gave them a pretty decent clean. Unfortunately I neglected to take any photos, but...
