Re: Olympic Blue / Silver metallic 1972 US Import 1.7L
Happy new year :-) Well my new years resolutions are going okay so far, no chocolate in January and more time in the workshop with 914. I was going to crack on with the dashboard this weekend, but than had a conversation with a couple of friends. There is a lot of time required to get the dash back ...

This car is weird. The common areas for rust such as the floor are not terrible - but the dash frame was a shocker! But repairing this keeps me out of the pub

Re: Olympic Blue / Silver metallic 1972 US Import 1.7L
With the Christmas festivities out of the way and the distraction of another vehicle out of the way, I thought it was time to crack on with the 914. As I think I have explained previously, my plan is to deal with parts as I go along, rather than have a huge pile of components which are needed but ar...

Re: Olympic Blue / Silver metallic 1972 US Import 1.7L
Darren I didn't look closely at it - the sense of relief of it finally coming out led me to go straight home! Mine also has the wax crayon writing your dash had. I will look at the overspray and check the colour next time I am at the workshop. I haven't gone nap onto your thread - did you respray yo...

Re: Olympic Blue / Silver metallic 1972 US Import 1.7L
So, the other vehicles are sorted for a bit, so, Christmas parties aside, my '14 is getting some attention. I had started removing the dashboard a while ago. Whilst not a complicated task in itself, I had got stuck with removing the bezel off the light switch. I am guessing it hadn't moved for over ...

I manage lots of days each month with no 914 progress! I am fearful that you will finish yours one day, and there will be no daily update.......

Re: Olympic Blue / Silver metallic 1972 US Import 1.7L
So, I meet up with a few of you from DDK and go quiet for three weeks.......... One of my other vehicles has been distracting me. I have spent the last few days lying on my back with various power tools doing some repairs on my motorhome sills. I have viewed it as practice for my 914 bodywork. But I...

I love the look of carbs. For a true retro look, keep the carbs as throttle bodies when you get the injection sorted. With your machining skills, I cannot image it will take you that long!!

Re: Olympic Blue / Silver metallic 1972 US Import 1.7L
Lots done this weekend, but few photos to back it up! On my previous restoration I worked hard to get the car to paint and sorted components for refitting as they were going back onto the car. with the 914, I am being more patient and refurbing items as I go. I have been cleaning the contact adhesiv...

Re: Olympic Blue / Silver metallic 1972 US Import 1.7L
I have managed to squeeze in a couple of days off work this week. NEC show tomorrow, and a workshop day today :) I am still working towards getting the car onto a rotisserie. Today has been about removing more parts. Seat belts, trim, rear window and other bits removed. I was particularly please wit...
