Re: 6 Volt Starting

Whenever anyone asked me about a starter motor issue the bush was the first thing I would suggest they change every time.
Its amazing how a £5 bush can cause so much trouble, and it's amazing how many people don't change them!

Re: Rear Reflectors

are there 'perfect' reproductions available Five years ago when I knew what I was talking about Marco at Elevenparts sold a very very nice quality reproduction 356 reflector. I expect Mike & Paul at PRS have them. The Stoddard repro was no where near as nice. If it turns out they are 356, and t...

Re: Cold start difficulty

Over the years I found the method that seemed to work best for me was to simply turn the key, engage the starter and once it was cranking over start to push the throttle slowly to the floor, 99% success! Regarding building oil pressure - if it's been sitting a while good idea. My old van doesn't get...

Oh, interesting! I thought Porsche just sold the late seal for everything. (and Stoddard sold the early seal for everything)
I guess it's all changed now.

There are early and late door seals, the seals Porsche supply are for T6 & C.
There are early and late bonnet seals, too!

Re: F&R number plate size/shape/position ...

Julian the smaller picture shows the one you mention. The second one is another I have just come across on another site. More expensive, looks the part, has anyone ever used these and can comment? I think I am correct in saying that the type in the first picture are more often used on earlier PreA ...

Re: F&R number plate size/shape/position ...

The next question is how to affix to the bottom of the front bumper. These clamps might do it without the need for drilling any holes. Perhaps just stick a small piece of that spongy tape either side to give the clamps something to bite into... https://www.vwheritage.com/111707999-number-plate-moun...

Re: F&R number plate size/shape/position ...

Really need to see the car but chances are Front: Motorcycle size below bumper oblong. Rear: Normal size in normal position oblong.
Good thread, and a critical detail to get right!

It says in the description "The heating system was changed to European specifications, including replacement heat exchangers" , the unusual pipe you noticed is part of that system. If you look at the pictures showing the underside of the engine you will see that the heat exchangers and sil...

Re: Engine out - Cluch in

AAAAAAAGH!!! Do I have to take the starter motor out? Doesn't look like an easy job. and I live by the motto - if it 'aint broke don't fiddle, 'cos you'll break it!! I haven't done this job on a 356, but I have done it on an old VW and although the mounting lugs on the 356 starter motor are positio...
