Jacking points

At last I've got time to do a bit more of my backdate project. I welded up a frame on wheeels 2' 6" high to support the car while I strip off all the underseal the same as Nick Moss uses. Two questions: 1 whats the best way to lift the car and motor high enough? I thought renting two "geni...

Momo hub

Tim, Andy My momo wheel ( flat monte carlo) is too much of a reach and sits too close to the dash binnacle. I was going to turn an alloy spacer (hub to wheel). Your posts suggest another boss may be easier. My car is '75 with the original column. What are the differences between the two hubs? If its...

Exhaust

Try "Torque Technique" in Salisbury. Lovely work at the right price. The whole system for my old V6 TVR was £600 and sounded perfect with no nast vibes or resonance.

Oil line connectors

These unions are a metric fine german standard I don't remember the sizes but a good industrial hose supplier will recognise them. The original oil lines are brass, you will be very surprised to learn that if you measure them they are nearly exactly 22mm OD. You could make a set from 22mm water pipe...

I'm going, my first DDK do (now I've found the thread). Its on my doorstep so will drive down in the hack ( low and thrashed MK 2 GTI it'll be the one with stinking brakes and a funny oily smell old Porsche owners should recognise). How do I recognise the rest of the DDK clan ? I'll try carrying a c...

I'll have one, call me on 01305 203046 in working hours to let me know where to send the money. I am near Dorchester so not too far to send it!

Which VW part is the cap to weld it to ? :?

Keep the faith.

As usual DDK turns up trumps. I do have a lot of experience with sidedraught webers so applying that to downdraught shouldn't be too difficult. I definitely don't mind getting my hands dirty so will be looking for Webers and manifolds / linkages etc needing rebuild at the right price soon. Lightweig...

What carbs?

The body on my 75 911S fun car is progressing nicely so its time to start planning the motor. I am not looking for mega power hikes and intend to fit exhaust headers (no heaters) onto the rebuilt standard engine with an RSR style three outlet muffler. I really dislike the CIS fuel injection set up f...

I am certain the parts I have would fit.
I will take a piccie this weekend and send it to you.

My contact mail is andy.haas@ukaea.org.uk. Mail me there and I'll send the piccie direct next week. I also have all the other sunroof parts if your wind deflectors etc aren't perfect.

Quarter light seals

Its an easy job but you may need access to some engineering skills. Remove all the trim. If they are opening type the anodised alloy edges are held by tiny screws into the wing top. ( you soon know how rusty that wing is !!) The window is removed by undoing the flex hinges on the pillar and unscrewi...
