Re: A Dream Fulfilled - MY 904FF

As the summer of 2022 went on, it was very obvious that the 904FF was not going to be ready for Ollon Villars in August. When I spoke to Vernon Williamson of Historic Ecosse to advise him that I would have cancel my entry, Vernon very kindly offered to swap my entry to one of his single seaters. We ...

Re: A Dream Fulfilled - MY 904FF

With the car back in its home garage, there were a number of decisions to be made as to the next steps. As part of transaction years ago I had a complete set of spare mouldings to make a complete body to be used if necessary. I hoped that the old wing and nose could be repaired to allow me to pass o...

Re: A Dream Fulfilled - MY 904FF

To get the repair underway, it was obvious that a number of new parts would be required. 1) Having had a number of discussions with various people about rod ends, there was a strong opinion that rod ends should be replaced at regular intervals depending how much use they undertook and also how many ...

Re: A Dream Fulfilled - MY 904FF

For those of a nervous disposition, you had better look away now! The 2022 season had started well with both Jim and I being satisfied with our performance at Shelsley Walsh on the 8th May. At the next meeting on 22nd May, we got in our first practice runs and Jim was really trying on his second pra...

Re: A Dream Fulfilled - MY 904FF

Well, the 904FF made it to Shelsley Walsh but it had not turned a wheel for two years until Olly Wright drove it up the paddock at 5.30 p.m. on Friday evening. I was somewhat surprised to see that it had changed colour since I was sure it was orange when it went to Teme Valley Motorsport in Shelsley...

Re: A Dream Fulfilled - MY 904FF

Some of you might have wondered what had happened to the "FF" over the last couple of years. It has obviously been hors de combat due to Jim's "off" at Shelsley Walsh in 2022. The good news is that an improved version - MK16B!!? will be at Shelsley this weekend and its more dilap...

Re: A Dream Fulfilled - MY 904FF

Red line set at 7,000. We are not changing down for the esses and the engine has just enough torque to pull us through in third. With young Olly driving and changing into second, his esse sector time is only a few hundredths quicker. It's a lot simpler for us old codgers not having to worry about a ...

Re: A Dream Fulfilled - MY 904FF

Glad that you are enjoying the saga of the FF. The season finished at Shelsley Walsh in September when my pal Jim Payne was able to share the car with me after two years fighting bowel cancer and the necessary chemo. All through the black days he had the dream of competing at Shelsley after his 80th...

Re: PMO fuel injection questions:

Graham, I have found the invoice but it has no specific part number. It is described as a "911 kit with 116mm pulley , 2.4 litre and later" The current Clewett web site gives its price as $1279 which is what I paid three years ago!

Re: The house where Jenks grew up

Great story, it was Jenks writing about his 356 in Motor Sport which kindled my love for Porsche. I bought my first one, a 1958 A cabriolet from Newton Oils who were the agents in Birmingham at the time. Brings back lovely memories. Thanks.

Re: PMO fuel injection questions:

It has a toothed wheel on the crank and fires three coils in succession. Each coil fires a cylinder on each bank simultaneously I.e a dead spark. I'll look for the invoice and give you the actual part number. My engine has Webers.

Re: PMO fuel injection questions:

Graham,

I have a Clewett system on the 904FF (2.4S) and up to the time of speaking it has been absolutely bulletproof. I recommend it!

Wonderful work. From one that has been through a build programme, I appreciate how much effort has been expended, I doff my cap or should I say 'bunnet"!

Re: Shelsley Walsh 14/15th Aug

The tape was to hold up the tow strap. Nothing serious.

It was a great meeting and The FF is now getting me up Shelsley Walsh regularly in the 37's. 36 secs here we come!
