Re: Seat and seatbelt mounts
Evening. I am also building a Speedster Clinic speedster for IVA. I looked a few portions including a bar a\over the gearbox to get the mounts hit enough to meet the angles to pass the test. In the end. I have gone with a pair of seat from a BMW 3 series convertible which have the belts as part of t...

Re: H-Gs Project 356
Evening all, Still here, just busy trying to balance work and cave time. It’s been a while since I managed to get some quality Cave-time however today was a good day. With a bit of assistance I dropped the engine (again) and fitted the engine lid stays. Also managed to fit some different washer jets...

Re: IVA thread
Need to work out how to post pictures now that Photobucket is no longer the photo host of choice (cost!). Likely to head over to the Norwich centre, especially if they did your test and have seen the likes of the refuel prevention setup. In terms of work to do, its the ‘front to back’ piece to get e...

Re: IVA thread
It’s been a while since I posted, but while I’ve been quiet on DDK and busy at work, things have been moving slowly in the Cave. I’m finally at a point where I am about easy to book The Test with just a few minor bits and bobs to sort before taking the plunge. The final main task is getting and fitt...

Re: H-Gs Project 356
That's the target Gary. Renewed focus to get it in a drivable state and then begging the process of turning it into a 356 replica.

Re: H-Gs Project 356
Been a while but progressing. Since the last post I've finished the loom. All the additional items have been incorporated, the loom halves removed, taped and refitted. A couple of prods with the multimeter to remind myself of what is feeding where and to my surprise, everything is working. In additi...

Re: 356 Speedster Flat6 outlaw build
Getting close to test day. Need to chat about the fuel filler and where you got the bits to ensure IVA compliance.

Re: H-Gs Project 356
A productive cave weekend with a little help from a willing volunteer. I now have working instruments with all lights and working lights working as they should. Took me a while to fathom out why the indicator warning light would continually flash, however a revisit of the diagram shows that it has a...

Re: H-Gs Project 356
Manged a few more hours in the cave over the weekend and: - Heated Windscreen circuit is all up and running. I had originally set it up so that the momentary switch effectively earthed to relay thinking it would work in a similar way to a stock relay, but no - it needs to be on the live side so had ...

Re: H-Gs Project 356
Managed a couple of hours in the cave today. Got the brake test switch finished and as it is a 6 pole switch I have used the spare side as the fuel pump prime (yet to finish the pump side of the loom) so I can prime the carbs if the car has been sat around for a while. In addition I have got the hea...

Re: H-Gs Project 356
Evening All, First things first as it's been nearly a year since I posted - I'm alive and well as is Mr 356 but new job and projects around the house have inevitably taken their toll on progress. That said, a few improvements in the Man Cave and things are a bit more toasty in there letting me work ...

Re: 356 Speedster Flat6 outlaw build
May be worth double checking but I think you need an audible warning that sounds if you leave you lights on with the ignition switched off Greg.
After a few months off, I'm back in the cave working through the endless loom modifications....

Re: Replica GPS speedo
I'm fitting the VDO electronic speedo to my 356; it come with the GPS signal generator however if you need to IVA your car then the GPS version is not compatible and you need a mechanical signal generator. If you have the VDO GPS set up then: Red from GPS unit is 12v supply (this can be either per e...
