Re: H-Gs Project 356

So other areas that I've worked on..... Well, to be honest I've not done this and it remains a bit of a work in progress as the chap doing this piece of work is unreliable, never turns up when he says he will and the few times he is here, all he does is drink coffee and eat chocolate brownies' fortu...

Re: H-Gs Project 356

Evening all. It's been a while but I've been tinkering when time and temperature has allowed. Since the last update I've worked more on the doors, re-doing the lock mechanisms as the last ones I used I had re-profiled to fit up against the GRP skin. I since found that the mechanisms fit up against t...

Re: Heated Screen group buy

Afternoon all, Following our gathering I've been looking for timer relays for the screens and this seems to be the best priced I can find. Works out at £18.50 ish with postage (which is about £1.50 saving on the one I can find on evilbay), but there are likely to be a few extra bits and bobs you can...

Re: Heated Screen group buy

I'm free on both dates and more than happy to host at mine if people are willing to travel this way; will go with what's easiest for you both. Re the sealant, is this actually required when fitting to our frames? If the general feeling is that it would be advantageous to maintain a warranty, then I'...

Re: Heated Screen group buy

Great news.

Can either pay cash or bank trans (

If it helps, I can pick Gregs up and have it in Huntingdon for collection to save him a few miles of driving.

I've no plans between Christmas and New Year so can pick up then - let me know what dates suits you Rich.

Re: Heated Screen group buy

Which manufacturer (cost) are we looking at Rich?

My screen is currently fitted, but would take moments to remove and use as template?

Re: 356 Replica gauges

I got a full set of VDO replica gauges from Gary at the Speedster Clinic. Came with the various sensors to match the units. The speedo is the GPS one and has a digital mileometer. There are a few subtle differences looks wise when compared with the originals but as I'm building a replica which will ...

Re: H-Gs Project 356

I've got the bits to get the steering column in which will let me centre the instruments. Once those are in and I have the screen how I want it and the door latches finish (including the inner release handles) I will turn my attention to the loom. I have a list of modifications I want to make to the...

Re: H-Gs Project 356

Ok, I fibbed! There is one more small update - seats. I have been scratching my head over how to overcome the IVA challenge in both the seat and seatbelt area. I think I have cracked it. I picked a full interior out of a BMW 3 series convertible on the good old Bay of E a week or so ago. A trip to M...

Re: H-Gs Project 356

Last update for this session - Windscreen. I started by trying to fit the glass into the frame - should be straight forward, but I have to say that after about 4 hours of try, i gave up! Instead I've used a little of the excess rubber to allow me to fit the glass into the frame and fit it to the car...

Re: H-Gs Project 356

Starting at the front of the car it's time to look at the horn grills and indicators. Again the trusty laser level came out and we had to revert to a VSWAG (Very Scientific... you get it!) As the old was taken from an original car there are imperfections in the gelcoat showing where the indicators n...

Re: H-Gs Project 356

So while not without a bit of head scratching, this turned out to be one of the easiest tasks this week. The holes and threads are bonded into the bonnet as part of the laying up process so it was s simple case of bolting the spring catch and safety catch into place. http://i1239.photobucket.com/alb...
