Re: 993 Carrera 2 1994

Does it drive well i.e. Doesn't leave you nervous at 70mph? I ended up replacing everything which was rubber at front and rear, including wishbone bushes and shocks. The whole lot. Subframe bushes too. In saying that you have so few miles you might be fine. Seeing as you have the wheel off, you're &...

Rooms - classics at castle

I've just had to pull out of this. Had rooms booked at The Mill Hotel Sudbury which is close by. Just cancelled - I had to cancel today to be refunded. They were fully booked out prior to that afaik. I cancelled a twin, a double and a single today.

Classics at the Castle is back!

True - but same for lots of events they organise from track days to motor shows. This isn't unique in that regard. There will always be a discount for paying members I suppose. Or else they would start complaining that they weren't getting a discount presumably!

Where are you in Scotland? Hi - thanks. I'm just outside Edinburgh just now. Dublin for last ten years but t...

Classics at the Castle is back!

Maybe the event is changing. I turned up at the last one. Stayed over across the road and went to the party the night before. I turned up in a 993 and got shuffled off to the "other parking area". In that other area were more Porsches than I've ever seen in one parking area. The 993s parke...

Classics at the Castle is back!

Can anyone confirm, is this now a PCGB event or is it still privately organised ? It's not controlled by PCGB James and never will be as long as those organising it continue to do so. Not sure how accurate that is. When I called Heddingham it was being discussed between someone at pcgb and the even...

Re: My engine won't come out

I have removed worn out hex/Allen key bolts by tapping in the relevant 'slightly larger' torx socket, if the torxsocket is of sufficient quality it will usually be fine, just make sure it is hit in far enough to make decent contact with the Allen bolt. I found a good habit to get into with the Alle...

Seam Sealer (beige) - not available in uk

Hi there, I have inadvertently ended up with a box of 3M seam sealer which is tan/beige in colour and is used on 964 and 993 and possibly earlier cars on seams. The shade is impossible to get in the uk. This box came from Germany via the sales rep who stocks a VERY well known uk 911 restorer. Will s...

Targa Roof Restoration

Hi, I posted this a long time ago on IB. Here is a copy which might be useful to someone. Presumably it broadly applies to most early years. The before pics look like this: http://impactbumpers.com/forum/uploads/monthly_11_2012/post-6350-1353101322.jpg http://impactbumpers.com/forum/uploads/monthly_...

911 Forum users please post a picture of your car.

I've lurked around ddk for a while. I don't feel I'm in the "grand restorer" fold yet but I've dappled around my day job. I'm quite obsessive about detail so no doubt if I extend that to these old cars I'll well and truly fall down the slippery slope. Is that a mig welder for Christmas and...

Re: Headingham; Whos going

I've been a lurker on this forum for a while. I'd very much like to meet some of you at Hedingham and to see your great cars. I'll even bring my subs with me! (Can I have a ddk sticker?!) I've been on the road since start June in a 993, and will be arriving at Hedingham having driven to Spain, Franc...

Any Porsche groups driving through France to Le Mans around 8/9th June?

I'm getting the hull ferry on 7th to Zebrugge. Heading to Spain but tempted to drive towards Le Mans....!

O/T: surface rust treatment?

Fertan is a highly respected rust treatment - used to stop rust on steel in the marine industry. Available at ships chandlers also. +1 If you put this in a fertan wash twice and follow the instructions 100% (which are almost counterintuitive because surface has to be dampened), and then epoxy 421 p...
