Re: Steering wheel column wobble
This is what I found when I removed my steering. Slightly better with the steering wheel on but I think I am missing either the bearing or the collar?

Re: Trailing arm bushing
Hi Oli,
I had not heard about the Wevo E-Z Pins. Next time I know, although I expect the Elephant Racing bushings to outlast me!
The old bushes on one side were gone, so alignment was impossible. Job done - thank you lockdown!

Re: Trailing arm bushing
Hi Stefan, there is a special tool to remove the inserts, otherwise they can be a pain. You can carefully saw them which allows them to loosen up.
I installed the elephant racing bushes and had to take the arms and bushes to a friend with a press.

Fairmile Wednesday 19th August
According to 911UK the Fairmile meet is back on this Wednesday (see copy below) and I am attending subject to the weather. Also don’t forget Oilcooled from Boxengasse this weekend! We are finally getting back to some kind or normality. Hooray! Alan ‘I have been in touch with the Fairmile regarding t...

Re: 901 Gearbox Oil recommendations other than Swepco
I used Swepco about 5 years ago and just switched following recommendations on DDK to Valvoline 75w-90. Definitely an improvement with smoother gear changes.

Re: Which lower shock absorber bushes for bilstein shocks?
Thank you all, This is all REALLY helpful and I can hopefully come up with a solution! Feels a bit like working on my old Land Rover rather than the Porsche! Alan

Which lower shock absorber bushes for bilstein shocks?
I am refitting the bilstein shocks to my ‘69 911 having switched from the incorrect aluminium arms to steel. Thanks to help from members of DDK I have worked out that the correct shocks were the Boge. I would prefer to use the Bilsteins which were already on the car and are in good condition, but ca...

Correct rear shock absorbers for steel trailing arms
I am just in the process of converting back from aluminium arms to the correct steel arms for my '69. A few questions: What are the correct shocks for the '69 LWB's? I currently have Bilstein 707 0975 H001 which are in good condition. Do I just use them with different lower bushes to accommodate the...

Re: A Trivial Moan
I placed an order for parts with Design911 on Wednesday, including some heavy Discs. It arrived Friday morning - not bad considered the current situation in the world. There was no delivery charge because of the size of the order. I am happy to use them even if there was, as their website is catalog...

Trailing Arm part numbers and geometry
I have a ‘69 911 with aluminium trailing arms. The aluminium arms were not produced until 1974. I have read that fitting late trailing arms can affect the set up as the shock mountings are not in the correct place and the geometry could be different. Does anyone have the correct part numbers if I wa...

Re: plug change
Always wind in the plugs by hand and just the final quarter turn or so with the torque wrench. I think you should be alright if you haven’t tightened them like a gorilla.

Hi Sam, just post them off under a tracked courier. They are back in about a week. Can’t fault classicar automotive for their service as the calipers are returned exactly as the photos above. Alan
