Re: Annoying droning noise from the brakes

After all your suggestions and attemps i made to solve the problem i gave up and took it to my local garage genius. It is embarrasing to report that he took one look at the "NEW" pads i had fitted some time ago and sais dump them. Fitted new pads and problem has diappeared. Cannot remember...

Leaking right angle speedo drive adaptor 911T

The drive adaptor on the front of the gearbox on my 1971 911T is weeping oil. Is there a repair kit to seal this or am i looking at a new one, Alternatively has anyone got one that they are happy to sell. A good used one is fine

Re: Starter motor relay

As the one mentioned in my first reply is no longer available i have asked Roger Bray if they can supply. Awaiting an answer. The mod shown on UTube actually uses one of the end screws on the starter motor to mount it so lead to the starter solenoid is very short

Starter motor relay

I have read on previous posts and seen Utube film of fitting a relay to the starter motor to feed the starter relay. This reduces the current going through the ignition switch and is a neat modification that picks up the feed from the main starter motor cable so you dont have to run a cable from the...

Re: seat back recline mechanism slipping

Whwn you take the side plate assembly off the seat check that the sliding boss ( which is moved by the release mecahism fully meshes with the fixed gear on the side. . If not slide it off the shaft move it one spline at a time around the splined rod until it fully meshes. If you have no damage to th...

Re: seat back recline mechanism slipping

Looks like my hunch was correct. By moving the splines a few teeth around i have the tapered gears meshing and holding the seat up.
Seats were completely rebuilt and recoivered before i bought the car so can only assume the guy made a mistake n reassembly

Re: seat back recline mechanism slipping

I think I may have found the problem. All the items mentioned are present and in good condition including the plastic covers. On stripping the mechanism I noticed that the sliding tapered gear that locks the position was not engaging in the fixed gear on the bracket. I thought this was due to wear or...

seat back recline mechanism slipping

Have a problem with the seat back rest slipping back. If you lean back and put a little pressure on it you end up virtually horizontal. Supprisingly its on the passenger side which is seldom used. Stripped the mechanism and all seems to be good. There is no noticable wear on the teeth although the f...

Re: Annoying droning noise from the brakes

The brakes do not squeal. if i brake the noise disappears and brakes work normally. Does not matter if i brake softly or press hard there is no squeal. when brake is released the droaning comes back after a short while and it is constant. I have a classic mini on the ramps at the moment which i have...

Re: Annoying droning noise from the brakes

Refernce above, I have now checked the internet and the PET catalogue but there is no mention of shims. However i found reference to soft shims that stick to the back of the pad. This is what i might have on mine which is being indented by the piston.

Re: Annoying droning noise from the brakes

After posting above i checked the internet and the PET catalogue where there is no mention of shims, However on some forums there is mention on later cars of self adheasive shims. This might be the material i have on the pads whicj is showing signs of indentation.
