Re: Who needs 12v

Got mine from www.classiccarleds.co.uk. Think the cost was about £80.00. They came in a lovely presentation box with all items you might need to fit however for my lights they just fitted straight in. Instructions come with them but i did need to call them about something and they were extremely hel...

Who needs 12v

Completed a full restoration on my SC about 12 months ago. I had always had problems with the sluggish starter which left me wondering if i should upgrade tp 12v. Enquiring on the forum the advice was if its set up correctly 6v is perfectly adequate as Porsche intended. So as part of the resto the s...

Re: light switch knob

easy when you know how. It was very tight and i was worried about breaking the switch but put a pin through the shaft hole ( which is probably there for that reason) and managed to undo it. Thanks very much for the knowledge

Re: Help please with virtually non running C

Had a similar problem when i restored my SC and i struggled for weeks. I had stripped the carbs and put in a full new overhaul kit. Car would start but not run properly after a short while. Ran all the tests, jet cleaning, pump testing etc which you seem to have done including checking fuel levels i...

Re: Headlights like candles??????

The control boxes are on a short lead from the bulb. There is plenty of room in the headlamp bowl for it to fit. It was a simple plug in and switch on although you do have to orientate the bulb after fitting to get the right cutoff. They supply cable ties to retain it which i put around the bowl ret...

Re: Loss of dashboard lights

An excellent point you raise and i would now be feeling very foolish if i had not tried that. I have made sure that is all the way back for max brightness but there are no lights. I must admit i have not checked all the bulbs to see if they are ok but all of them being out makes it unlikely. At my a...

Loss of dashboard lights

Whilst testing the car in the dark i noticed i have lost my dashboard lights. First time out in the dark so this could have happened during the ferurb but i did not change any of the wiring/ connections behind the dash but did fiddle around up there to access wiper motor and airvent cables. Loss of ...

Re: Headlights like candles??????

Just purchased a set of LED bulbs from Classic Car LED's. Fitting was straight forward and at £85.00 well worth the money. Fitting instructions were supplied but i needed some additional information and they were very helpful sending me further instructions. I can now see where i am going which is v...

Re: strange brake problem on SC

Looks like i have finally solved the problem of my brake pedal gradually going to the floor whilst not in use. This was happening after reconditioned calipers were fitted and when the pedal dropped and i bled the brakes no air was coming out. I must have done this about 6 times. It was suggested tha...

Re: Headlights like candles??????

Just restored the car when all the electrics were overhauled and connections cleaned. Headlight units are brand new H4 conversiions.
There is nothing wrong with the lights except being 6v they are very dim. High beam is less than 100 yds which is not good.

Headlights like candles??????

Just took the SC out for a run in the dark for the first time in years. Candles are an exaggeration for the light i was getting out. My eyesight might have deteriorated a bit but with new H4 bulbs and a fully reconditioned dynamo the 6 volt system is totally inadequate. What are my best options for ...

Re: gearchange problem on 356SC

Yes i have now got a wiring diagram as i have found my long lost manual. It shows the wire from the switch going to a connector block. Can you advise where i can find this connector block? Also wiring diagram is not very clear on cable colours. What cable colour should i be tracing.

Re: gearchange problem on 356SC

Good news. Bought the gear rod and coupling bushes from PRS and after a lot of fiddling got the gearchange set up correctly and i now have all the gears. During the work i noticed that the reverse lock collar on the gear rod was missing which explained why i could not lock it in reverse. PRS supplie...
