Re: 987 Spyder
So a couple of jobs to improve reliability…. Next one which can wait for another 12 months or so is the infamous coolant pipes at the front … these always corrode as Porsche in their wisdom put no protection on them .. problem is it’s a drop the front subframe job to replace them !!! Really enjoyin...

Re: How do we feel about E10?
I think Sheffield University researched ethanol and fuel vaporisation, the bought loads of petrol and found that ethanol varied all over the place and up to 20% already, but that one make of premium fuel had none . They were most concerned about vaporisation and found 5% heating oil was the fix in ...

Re: I bought a Boxster
But its all about the drive (and bang for buck - hopefully not an IMS related bang  ) - just such a nice thing to have out on a sunny day with the roof down. Highly unlikely to experience IMSB failure on a 2.5 - it uses a dual row bearing which is generally regarded to be utterly reliable. Bu...

For Boxster specific “How To” threads, proper practical advice and the like it’s worth taking a look at boxa.net - UK forum which is, I think, the largest model specific forum in Europe.

Re: 3.2 911 engine: mods to give 7600 min red line?
Have spent a long time looking at Boxster and the cheaper but similar AUDI 1.8T boxes. The bell housing 'diameter' is too big to squeeze into the chassis frame and the fuel tank position stops the cables from passing through to the cabin of the car! There are also some difficulties with adapting th...

Re: 3.2 911 engine: mods to give 7600 min red line?
Know you're not necessarily keen to change your gearbox but this came up on another forum and at £650 might be useful. 986 5 speed with KAZ diff - you'd need to validate the ratios for your car, mountings etc but the "hard bit" in terms of linkage/shifter should be an easy win given it use...

It's been sitting in storage for a good while and is definitely an "as and when" project so no time pressures.911hillclimber wrote:Ah...
Rather not have the pressure tbh.
These side projects are to keep bordom at bay, fillingin time when I have it.

Re: Third Brake Light
Some people place a LED brake light strip in the central vent slot above the rear window - puts the light up high and keeps the rear window clear of clutter. Would that work for your car? What is the routing for the wires if you do it this way do you know? It’s on my list of jobs but from what I’ve...

Re: No none electric car sales from 2030??
My Boxster won't be ULEZ compliant from October (I am 400m inside the ULEZ zone in South London). It's 19 years old. I either sell it to someone in Scotland or do I put an EV in it (need an ECU bypass or whatever) to lengthen it's life? The latter is not, currently, an option. The ULEZ checker has ...

PCarsGB have had this in place for a good while now - know a few folk who've read the small print and don't like what they're seeing as it seems to go beyond simple tariff increases.
