Re: Cargraphic Exhausts.... anyone tried one?

Yes - had a full system (manifolds, 200cell cats and silencer) installed some years ago on my 3.2 986. Build quality was superb - a cat matrix detached quite quickly and was replaced without fuss - 50k miles later the whole system was replaced and apart from some minor repair work the system is good...

Re: What do you think of this?

Nice write up. Thank you. Any comments on manual v tiptonic gearboxes? You're welcome. No personal driving experience of the Tip gearbox although two of the quickest real world road 986s I know are autos - one 2.5 and the other a 2.7. Both are properly looked after but far from cosseted. Of course ...

Re: What do you think of this?

Have owned a 2002 986S for over 10 years and really enjoy using it. Sure there are some horror stories out there - as with any car really - however the main thing to look for is one that has done some decent mileage and evidence not just of regular servicing but ongoing maintenance. In my view it is...

....and the secret ingredient, French Carbone pads all round. Stock master, Aeroquip flex lines, dot 4 fluid. Do you mean Carbone Lorraine? If so more info here: https://www.cl-brakes.co.uk/pad-compounds-explained.html Also use these (RC5+ compound) on my heavily tweaked 3.7 litre 986 Boxster (road...

Re: Not seen this type of fire extinguisher before ...

Used to work for the railways and because of what I did was Fire Trained across all the then available extinguishers and fuel types. The first few 1sq m 5cm deep trays with some petrol being set alight and then learning to extinguish that are almost life lessons and gave me a very healthy respect fo...

Re: Getting a car that isn't a 911

in moments of clarity .. i keep coming back to what I enjoy driving on a good B-road blast ( north yorkshire style b roads with no stand still traffic) and as much as i like the idea of some of the fast modern machinery .. what I really require is a narrowish car , compliant-ish suspension , lots o...

Re: Road trip to the Arctic Circle 2020

As for the car I am leaning towards a Boxster, they seem really good value and will make a great summer car. Any tips on what to look on for gratefully welcomed. Sounds like a great trip. Have owned a now much modified 986 (custom coilovers/drivetrain mods/3.7l engine etc) for 12+ years and 100k+ m...

Re: CL pads

Run CL RC5+ pads all round on my heavily modded 3.7 986 BoxsterS

All the performance described above.

Low speed noise fixed by reinstalling the anti squeal shims - no decrease in performance that I can feel.

Available from OPC for around £84 with a 10% Club discount.

There’s a trick to installing them using a plastic bag to reduce risk of losing components:

Re: Stainless cup holder

Hi Brilliant - been looking for something like this for an age and would really like a couple of CUPLs for my (early) Boxster. If you're struggling to check fit on Boxsters I reckon I should be able to get access to all types - 986, 987, 981 and 718(982) - in a single go and update you. Suspect you...

Agree albeit use these in a heavily upgraded 986 Boxster - which is also my DD.

Purchase directly via: http://www.carbonelorrainebraking.co.uk - I just picked up the phone, confirmed fitment - was happy with the price and lead-time.
