Re: A car with an interesting past!

Dougy, thank you for saving such a great car. Whatever or whoever awaits it, it will at least always be a 914/6 and hopefully used likes it was designed to be....

Re: Oil leak question

The old 'triangle of doom' is notorious for oil leaks. I recently replaced my oil pressure switch which was only a few years old as it leaked.... Check the area behind the fan housing thoroughly before doing anything drastic/expensive it's amazing how oil can leak here and be almost invisible! Good ...

Re: Salvage Hunters: Classic Cars Porsche 914 Tonight 9pm on Quest

"His style is unscripted & fast paced so repeating the same thing over & over to get all the shots etc is a non starter. At times he will use up to 30 cameras running so all the shots / angles are caught in one take" And that is exactly why it looks so shite! I also switch off 90% ...

Re: Stock 23mm or 26/27mm rear torsion bar?

Again, not advice but my experience; I have a 3.2 made into a wide body hot-rod. I used 20mm front and 26mm rear bars, both ER hollow. As mine is somewhat lightened from standard 3.2 I decided 20/26 was stiff enough and indeed it is a good balance between road and track. One thing I can report is yo...

Re: Has ebay uk market place changed ?

I agree with all the above but would add not to be too worried about low 'watches' or bids, there are several tools for auto-bidding at the very last second so as not to reveal your hand as it were. Fees have gone up hugely too. Having said all that I recently put some old HiFi on marketplace and af...

Re: New Car Woes - 1...Update

For what it's worth, I have a compression joint repair on my '82 SC's oil pipe. Been leak free for 15 years or so, BUT the sill cover doesn't sit quite right, so I intend to remove and solder in a repair section form 22mm copper. Maybe this winter I'll finally do it! I'd go with RobFrost's suggestio...
