Re: Fibreglass panels - options
. Just a suggestion - it's not a good idea to remove too much weight from the front of the car without lightening the rear correspondingly ... . Thanks for the suggestion. To help understand my plan, I wasn’t expecting to go super light on the car, it’s a full fat 3.2 Targa and my track days as pre...

Re: Fibreglass panels - options
Thanks again for the feedback. I have been going back and forth on this - don't we all? ;) After a bit of back and forth, and then forth and back, am leaning towards part steel/part FG. The car needs new sills and kidneys, so I'll get this done and I have the rear arch panels done in steel I have a ...

Re: Fibreglass panels - options
Thanks for the feedback and advice. So, sounds like keep it metal (mostly?). The part I am not sure about in the bonnet selection, is there a long bonnet that will go with a short version, ie fits a G series slam panel or works less need to cut panels or even retro fit if someone wanted to go back t...

Fibreglass panels - options
What is the thinking on the options of fibreglass panels in terms of quality v time expended to get a decent fit and finish? I am looking at EB or Club Autosport as difference budgetting price points and just wondered what the collective thinking would suggest. I know CA panels will likely require w...

Re: 3.2 Carrera UK emissions fail
I’m with Chris on this having had hunting at idle on my 3.2. Replace the gaskets (12) and also the plastic spacers (6). As Nige says, spray some carb cleaner at each of the joints between head and manifold. Alternatively, get a smoke machine (I home brewed one) and test for leaks that way. Good luck...

Orange Impact Bumper Targa
Spotted this morning at the BP garage on the A13 in Hadleigh. Was driving past so didn’t get a close look but the top was off and it looked very smart in the sunshine.

White SC Targa EHJ X - Leigh on Sea
Spotted while I was walking the dog (not a euphemism), heading into into Leigh on Sea this morning. Looked very smart, puts mine to shame.

Re: Oddometer stop turning.
Just doing this repair on a 924 speedo for my kit car. Not that fiddly to do on the 924 speedo, just need a bit of patience and work methodically through the movement. Parts can be a bit spendy for a small plastic part though

Re: My 356 Homage
IMG_3840.jpg A quick bit of disassembly, followed by a reciprocating saw and it all fits easily into the garage. Managed to sell a few bits and the rest went off to the local recycling site. The engine was completely stripped, as were the brakes. Fast forward a few months and with the wafer thin fl...

Re: My 356 Homage
So this is what we started with. IMG_0555a.jpg Originally a cool car for one of my sons. Turned out to be in poor condition. Mechanically OK, engine had a bit of end float but body and chassis pretty rusty. Not sure how it got through the MOT, some of the welding had been done with silicon sealant, ...

Re: My 356 Homage
Geez, it's been a while since I updated this. Still slow progress. Life had been getting in the way somewhat but now getting a bit more time in the garage. Also, as we all do, it's involved a lot of thinking and contemplation, and by the time I have finished that, I don't have time to do the stuff I...

Re: Burnt Pig - 356 Pre a Build Thread
Great work Rob and glad you have re-found work. I do like what you have done with the lights on the rear of your car, amongst a number of other bits I like. Fingers crossed it'll spring to life soon. Are the vitalonis IVA compliant or do you have some test mirrors that you'll use? Keep up the good w...

Why don’t you get the body shop to change the mix slightly to create ‘Slade Grey’?
