Re: What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?
I replaced the front suspension bushes, put turbo tie rods on, fitted new brake discs, wheel bearings and pads on the 914 All in one day. I'm knackered!! And cold Rear suspension bushes on weds and then onto the engine... That was good going....can tell you it took a heck of a lot longer to do the ...

Re: Restoring my first 914
Have you still got one in your wallet Kev? Yes, I have two in my wallet at the moment! I quite often find I require the M7 Nyloc nut on many of the 914s I have worked on over the years to replace the odd ball of nuts used on the clutch cable. Darren if you require one, give me a shout! Also ...

Re: Brooklands Historics Auction March 7th
Surely if you junk all the emissions gear (as I have done), there can't be much difference between a 1.8 and a 1.7....? So don't quite understand why anyone would bother....mine will happily keep up with 911s on a run. In the real world, what it gives up on outright power, it makes up for in the twi...

Spotted at Unit 11 in Warrington today ....... http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/02/20/6a8451cc772049a2c3adb355e19942d5.jpg Interesting ! Belongs to my mate Pete Parkey. Was built in the early 90s by Josh Sadler of Autofarm on a 70s shell, using various Group B parts left over from a race car. E...

Re: Can anyone suggest where to look for a 914-6 wiring loom
In the course of researching the 914/6 conversion process some time back, I found several conversion threads on 914world. One was by Eric Shea (PMB Performance) and I remember them having to largely replace the whole loom. Don't know if they did it piecemeal or using a readymade replacement. Probabl...

Earth? Nothing dislodged on the side-light front (earth cable I think runs across both if I recall correctly).
Are the lights at the back ok?

Anyone attended this show previously? I believe the trade stands / show cars are indoors, with space for clubs outside. Next one is on 15th Feb at Bingley Hall, Stafford. http://www.dubfreeze.co.uk Might take a run out to it if anyone else is interested in attending? If there are several of us, it m...

Re: Restoring my first 914
I had to do some head scratching on mine (with the help of Kevin and a mate who is an electronics whizz). Oddly, two relays went on my board at the same time, so swapping them round might not fix it if the same has happened! I also had to replace the MAF.

Re: New 914 owner, let the resto commence.
Hi Norm, welcome and good luck! Plenty of good advice and experience here on DDK though. So you've found the right place. If the floor looks suspect, check the seal on the rear window too. I can raise Ollie's rear floor pan with a spare seat reinforcement strut that welds to the pan (only need one p...

Re: Cheap clutch plates from GSF
Should be fine. I have the 6-spring clutch out of an early 911 in my 914. Assume you are keeping the 901 box in your 6 conversion? If not, then clutch size is the same for the 915 box (though it has 4 stronger springs rather than 6), but size is different for a G50 (240mm vs 225mm).

Re: Restoring my first 914
Only difference on rotor arms that I am aware of is the factory fitted ones differed between models. Originally some had a rev limiter built in to the rotor. Pretty sure though that most folks don't bother now. What year is your car. Engine size? Also there are various folks here running different t...
