Re: How do I remove the centre of the boss?
Put some WD40 around it - no doubt with it being alloy, it has corroded itself together. Also give it a slight tap with a rubber mallet to try and free the crud off between the two, once the WD 40 has soaked through.

Re: Classic and Rebuild Vehicles Consultation
I see part of it states Historic and classic vehicles The allocation of registration numbers is mostly determined by a vehicle’s date of manufacture or date of first registration. The law does not specifically define a vehicle as historic or classic, but a vehicle may be exempt from the payment of V...

Re: Assessing an unknown engine
Rob, Have you tried any of that FREEZE OFF penetrating oil at all? Normally works quite well, and for the price might be an idea before you weld your nuts together? There are others on the market, but Eurocarparts sells this stuff......... https://www.eurocarparts.com/p/normfest-super-crack-ultra-ic...

Re: 1987 3.2 Carrera Backdate project - Sladeys hotrod
Its all a bit weird The black sooty plug should mean it is running too rich, so you would expect it to run cooler as it ignites at a lower temperature. I think you are correct that it is not firing, and the 88°either side is heat transfer to the middle cylinder. The middle cylinder having no heat in...

Re: 1987 3.2 Carrera Backdate project - Sladeys hotrod
Swop the injectors over from one side to the other see if the temperatures rises now on the other bank? A lean mixture can lead to lower Cylinder head temperature, but would not thought that much, it s almost as if that bank is not getting enough fuel to fire those cylinders properly. Take it the ai...

Re: Assessing an unknown engine
True, the dish washer is me. I’m cheap and reliable and never break down. Best cleaning for me has been paraffin, more paraffin, WD40. Bag after drying. Brake cleaner and then more just before assembly.. I used to buy it off eBay 10 cans at a time. That must make your dishes/cutlery/glass stink! No...

Re: Quandry / Query - NOT Porsche related ... need abs help
Does the garage have VCDS (Vag Com) if not try and find someone local that has that system that can come and plug it into the car. VW Group Group cars are very temperamental on battery voltage, and can throw up codes when something is replaced if the battery is low. 1) Did they clear the original fa...

Re: 915 trans HEAVY DUTY clutch supplier needed!
Just mention Trading Standards, and they sold you a so called Heavy Duty item, which has been identified as a standard cover - irrespective of use, it was mis sold as something it clearly is not.

Re: Tyre sizing?
I'm all for choice and we need to be able to give a balanced view / opinion to owners of cars . There isn't necessarily a right or wrong answer, but for some budget does matter and I'd rather people had fresh rubber on their cars than sticking with 10year old tyres that have gone hard and have no g...
