Re: Fabric Sunroof

There's an interesting picture of the original Allard Golde advert in Ian's column in Porsche Post this month.

Re: Dampers

Hi I'm very interested in the answer to this as I'm in a similar position and interested in what everyone suggests for my 2.2s (standard torsion bars etc.) and also targetting modernish levels of damping comfort and performance (what I should do with the bushes etc. is also of interest along with an...

Re: Mirror and Headlight thoughts

I'm not sure if I should start a new thread on the stereo question rather than keep adding to this one. I really like Gary's pic of the original Blaupunkt and so want something similar now. Does anyone know what models of Blaupunkt were fitted around the time, and does anyone have pictures of the di...

Re: Fabric Sunroof

Hi Dave

That's interesting, the clasp and badge look similar to mine (see pic below). I'll take a better picture when I get a chance

Re: Mirror and Headlight thoughts

Hi James Thanks for that, do you have any pics of the speakers fitted under the dash (and can you see them at all when in the car? Pictures of Gary's in door set-up also sounds very interesting. What does everyone do for an aerial (my car doesn't appear to have one at the moment), has anyone fitted ...

Re: Mirror and Headlight thoughts

Hi, yes I just got a mail back from Roger Bray about their T970L / T790R small rectangular mirrors. I'm not sure if these are identical to the ones that Porsche sell? They also said (when discussing choosing between the small rectangles and the durants although I'm pretty sure I'm going rectangle at...

Re: Mirror and Headlight thoughts

Thanks for the pictures and thoughts, very useful. I think that I'll probably go with the small rectangular option as per the blue car above. I don't suppose that anyone knows the part numbers for the parts required offhand? Is the mounting different if I did go back to durant in the future? Next qu...

Mirror and Headlight thoughts

Hi All I'm sure lots of people have been through the same thing, and so I thought I'd canvass opinion. My car doesn't have any door mirrors at the moment and so I'm looking at options. I think that I want a driver and passenger side (although I realise that most cars only had the driver's side fitte...

Re: Fabric Sunroof

The history I have so far suggests that the car was in the Channel islands (either Guernsey or Jersey) from sale until 1978 (which is the first record that I have of it with the fabric sunroof), and so it could well have been dealer fitted. The handle could do with re-chroming but otherwise it still...

Fabric Sunroof

Hi Purely for interest I thought that I'd put some pictures up of the fabric sunroof on my car. It was certainly on the car in 1978 and appears to have been a dealer fitted option. http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/sfl993t4/Roof1_zps2790f253.jpg http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/sfl993...

Re: 1970 2.2s wiring loom replacement/restoration

Hi all Yes the car was made in March 1970 and imported to the UK by AFN in March 1970, then sold in May 1970 by dealer Eldridge (don't have any details or information on them). Then appears to have gone to Guernsey and finally to Jersery in Nov 1972. I don't have much history on the car before 1978....

Re: 1970 2.2s wiring loom replacement/restoration

Heated front screen isn't something that I'd even considered. Is this a common modification? Where would you add an extra switch for it (or do you attach it to an existing switch)?

Hi

Thanks for that, really useful. I've just dropped an email to autosparks to see what is possible. Has anyone here used their looms before?

Re: 1970 2.2s wiring loom replacement/restoration

Well this is my first attempt at using photobucket so here goes: http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/sfl993t4/car1_zps34ae3d32.jpg I've already planned rectangular mirrors from Roger Bray http://www.rogerbrayrestoration.com/911newparts.htm as although not strictly original I want the car to be ...

1970 2.2s wiring loom replacement/restoration

Hi all I'm just about to start restoring my 2.2s and wondered what the general thinking on wiring looms was. If it was a house or a race car, I guess that the loom would be replaced as a matter of course and re-wrapping 40 year old wiring doesn't seem completely sensible. What is the general thinkin...
