Re: Fire extinguisher
Lookat the link above , are they not available non automatic, ie pull lever , and if not why not ? As you may have seen, these are temperature related and held closed by a glass vial that will burst when the temperature for their specific rating is reached. 79degrees in the case of the one shown in...

Re: Fire extinguisher
I agree with AFFF over dry powder for means of a response, but have you considered a small automatic clean agent extinguisher in the engine compartment? This would quickly knock down any outbreak of fire, and with an electronic indicator placed somewhere within driver view you, would be alerted to a...

Re: VW Beetle Skittish steering
Doug,
I have this bump steer kit I bought for a Beetle a few years ago. I'm not going to use it so if it's any good to you PM your address and I'll stick it in the post.

^^^ What he said ^^^ I think everything that can be said, has been said. However, although I'm just a newbie minnow on here finding his way, I'd like to add my thanks to you Tom for providing what has become such a great community. I've only met a few guys so far, but I've received a lot of help and...

Re: Suspension pan replacement - measurements for Jig
crisc204, very helpful. Thank you. I've offered up Micks jig today and found it to be a good tight snug fit to the existing four rearward points. I haven't fitted up the replacement pan yet, but I did bolt it to the jig before fitting the jig to the car. This fitted well, with a 1mm discrepancy whic...

Re: Suspension pan replacement - measurements for Jig
Thanks guys. Yes to clarify it is the short pan only and doesn't incorporate the rear original four mounts that are in very good condition on my car. As Dave mentioned, Porsche can supply the jig similar to the one Mick has let me borrow, so all should be ok using this type of jig. I do appreciate a...

Re: Suspension pan replacement - measurements for Jig
I'd describe myself as a 'have a go enthusiast', with one lengthy restoration under my belt and keen to get this one spot on. The jig picks up the four rear bolt holes and then extends forward to pick up the three bolts on the suspension arms. I picked up the jig today from Mick (thank you kind Sir)...

Re: Suspension pan replacement - measurements for Jig
Thanks Alan, but I'm a fair distance from you. Mick has kindly offered me the use of his jig which I've arranged to collect shortly. Being made from a car which sat on the Celette, I would imagine this is within tolerance so I'm happy to go with it.
Thanks again for the offer though.

Re: Suspension pan replacement - measurements for Jig
Thanks Andy. I did see that one but there was a less complicated drawing I saw. It was an over head view. I think it was specifically the jig drawing it makes reference to although I understand the info is in the drawing you posted.
Nevertheless, thanks for your help.

Suspension pan replacement - measurements for Jig
Good evening Gents.
I've searched high and low on here for the dimension drawing someone posted for the jig required to set the replacement front suspension pan correctly. I can't find it anywhere.
If anyone has the drawing to hand and would repost, I'd be very grateful.
Thanks.
