Re: 66´616/33 rebuild project - going into 66´VW deluxe bus
I was so busy dialing it in and just enjoying my new little engine, that I totally forgot to keep the build thread up to date :-) The engine ran flawless all season, and not a single drop of oil leaking. I managed to put more than 9000km on the clock. I used some rear tin from a 30hp vw, and cut som...

Re: 66´616/33 rebuild project - going into 66´VW deluxe bus
Engine almost ready. Right now I am building linkage from scratch. Lot of work, but seems to work great. I bought a nice set of 40mm solex, and I will try to use these 912 filters, and just hook up a mushroom type airfilter on the back (out of sight). If that´s not working out, then I will try to ma...

Re: 66´616/33 rebuild project - going into 66´VW deluxe bus
Thanks for you comments! I just checked the seats and valves, and lapped the valves in with fine coarse valve grinding compound. I finished off with filling the finished chambers with liquid, to make sure the valves sealed up tight. All sealed up perfect! I have decided to use the old valves ...

356C/912 deck height & CR ratio.....?
Hi I am rebuilding my industrial engine http://www.ddk-online.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=41566 I have now measured measured measured and calculated... but I am still in doubt. I am using 86mm cylinders and pistons (Biral from AA performance). I have measured and calculated cylinderhead cc, p...

Re: Fanhousing "venturi"
Perfect! Thank you. Will buy one from them. Yes VW and Porsche are the same. Does anyone know what width size the fan blade inside the fan housing is. I ditched the original industrial fan blade that was on the engine (66' industrial 616/33 engine), and I am using one from a VW 1600 industrial engin...

Re: 924 rear Suspension
I might be interested in everything but the A-arms
Would you consider dismantling the pieces and shipping the parts except the A-arms?

Re: 66´616/33 rebuild project - going into 66´VW deluxe bus
Just received the AA Performance Biral cylinder kit yesterday. Just did a few quick measurement, and it seems that the cylinders are very accurate out of the box. All cylinders measured exactly 86.00mm. Pistons also right on spec. Tried out one of the rings too, and it seems fair with 0,30-0,35mm ri...

Re: 66´616/33 rebuild project - going into 66´VW deluxe bus
Next step.... I took the valves out to check the guides and seats. Everything looks just right, the guides felt perfect and I am just gonna give the valves/seats a quick lapping with fine coarse. I just washed the heads with soap and water, and they came out really nice. I am used to VW so thought I...

Fanhousing "venturi"
Hi I noticed that some (all?) fanhousings have a venturi attached to the fan inlet on the back. I am currently rebuilding an industrial 616/33 engine, and it is going in a car when finished. I assume this venturi is supposed to speed up the air entering the fan blade on the back. But the question is...

Re: 66´616/33 rebuild project - going into 66´VW deluxe bus
No I am not going for webers (except maybe 48 IDA´s ;-)). I will try to keep a somewhat old speed look to the engine. I will probably make my own linkage, but it will be one of the last things I do to the engine. I have a friend who have a full set of 40PII solex carbs, he said I could borrow them a...
