Re: My '72 911T

Surprisingly crusty, an area I wouldn't touch myself either and so grateful we've got skilled people like Barry to lean on for these repairs. Mine's being used year around but have a feeling that either Barry's stopped working his magic on these shells or old cars are banned next time around mine ne...

Love this car Chris, such a cool story with the car moving with you across the pond multiple times too.

Re: Winter refresh 2.2T 1971

Now it was time to tackle the torsion tube. The RD tube doesn’t include any brackets so these were duly cut out, blasted and transferred over to the new RD tube https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201129/29a028b25030748f41f71ed4ca0c052f.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201129/f9674b450773aee995...

Re: Winter refresh 2.2T 1971

This is apparently what assorted pieces of 911 look like https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201129/68278b7efb9df62e05b346a0a6c1be80.jpg Fuel pump bracket was a bit on the crusty side https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201129/b248f1a7f88389a3f5b8008cec7e2138.jpg Bit of blasting, bit of welding and it...

Re: Winter refresh 2.2T 1971

LH chassis rail required some attention, inner and outer sheet metal replaced. Amazing craftsmanship forming these panels. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201129/8b8170ef72b5def1f32c1f33e9a96404.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201129/8ec3ae99948f8371e60509972ef27575.jpg Trial fit prior wel...

Re: Winter refresh 2.2T 1971

Then it was time asses what we had, kind of like peeling an onion. Rear seat pan cut out to allow proper access for welding in the new torsion tube around the complete circumference. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201129/b6af9ea5718b9a8effe8b2fdb4081543.jpg All though the underside of the car wa...

Re: Winter refresh 2.2T 1971

Don’t worry Darren, i know it was for a good cause [emoji106] First thing Barry did after confirming rear being low was get the screens out, to avoid cracking, and pull it straight. First time right door gap is locking good in my ownership. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201129/c68302bfef74046af...

Re: Winter refresh 2.2T 1971

Eventually got over the channel and drove up to Impact storage in Sussex, a place which Barry had kindly checked out in advance, car was to stay in their safe storage until Barry had a free slot. Very pleasant experience dealing with these guys, the owner Sam gave a tour of their premises and their ...

Re: Winter refresh 2.2T 1971

Tester gave me 7 days before having to take the car off the road. Knowing that I didn’t have the capabilities to replace the tube myself and that I do have some trust issues in regards to anything specialist workshops there was only one thing to do, a call with the metal master Mr Carter. Barry kind...
