Re: 72 ST engine bogging down
Finally solved the issue. Turns out the accelerator pumps were giving too much fuel. Blowing the spark out. Knocked them back about three full turns each. No issues at all now.

Front S bumper wanted
Hello. I’m after a long hood front bumper - with the S lower lip. It does not need to be in good condition, as I’ll be cutting the lip section off to add to my current T bumper (I’d like to keep my existing bumper in place as it has the oil cooler slots).
Many thanks. Gary

Re: 72 ST engine bogging down
Update. JB Racing did a good job of restoring the twin plug. It didn’t fix the hesitation.
I then replaced the twin coils. That improved it 90%. This pretty much fixed my issue.

My 356A 1959 last day on auction
My fully restored 356A is in the last day on PC Car Market. It’s the Ruby red 1959 car.
Hopefully it meets reserve. If not, then I’ll be shipping it to the UK. We return to the UK in 2.5 years time to retire.

Re: 72 ST engine bogging down
I checked out the carbs. All fine. What I did see was my JB Racing twin plug distributor the culprit. Cracked rotor base and generally worn out contact areas. That’ll cause the issue I’ve been experiencing.
JB Racing will take back the distributor and refurb for me. Good service.

72 ST engine bogging down
I’ve noticed my 2.5 twin spark, Rothsport built engine is suffering from intermittent bogging down on throttle. I’m changing from first to second, say, and put my foot down to accelerate, but get a delay and hesitation. Sometimes the revs drop and feels like it’s short of petrol. Then it picks up an...

Advice on getting a bit more power
I’m asking on behalf of a friend of mine in Toronto. He has a 1968 912. Big bore engine. Matching numbers. Weber carbs. He says the engine runs well enough, but lacks a bit of grunt. Wants a drivable car. He’s considered putting in a new engine from Fat Performance and others. My experience of these...

Re: Advice on rustproofing
Thank you all. I’ve now had the chance to fully inspect the car. The restoration shop did a great job of sealing the floor and has already sprayed in rust proofing into the cavities. https://photos.app.goo.gl/bVER4fWfEWoEAR7N7 I’ve taken shots of the underside. I think they used an epoxy paint on th...

In two years time for sure. Until then, it’ll be with me in Torontohashman wrote:That looks great.
I'll keep my eyes open for a red 356 around the midlands then.
Enjoy.

Newly acquired 59 356A
So it finally happened. I took ownership of a 356. Ruby red, 2 previous owners. Restored in 2019. Sat in a Tennessee barn from 1972 to 2019. I’ve been fettling for a week - doing lots of little snagging jobs - post restoration. I just love it. Mostly correct, a few things not 100% perfect (like the ...

Neil, thanks for reminding me!
At least myself and my family have no health issues with Covid. For that I'm grateful. I'll take the 50% cut or more if it stays that way. Others have not been so fortunate.
