Hmmm,
The engine spins when I do try to start it, so it's not battery or starter motor. But you could be right that the clunk is an after effect of some electrical issue.

No spark and a clunk
My 1977 911S will not start. Was running fine till it got on the motorway then cut out. Cooled down, started, then cut out again. Recovered to home, prior to being able to get it into a proprietary specialist, I thought I might try to educate myself I do get a whine from the Cdi box, however I also ...

Door Check Strap
Prior to my acquistion my 77 911S has had two attempted repairs to the door side related to the door check strap Unfortunately the previous repairs have been disastrous. I think the door would probably need to be removed to do a proper repair to allow some metal to be stitched inside the door to str...

Front strut top mounts
The front struts on my 77 911S appear very brittle on the inside of the car as well as covered in some very old sealant Firstly does this look factory? Secondly are these suitable to replace the very brittle mounts? They are Wolfsburg HD sport front strut top mounts from Design 911 Or would you sugg...

Tracing my car
I have a 1977 US Spec 911S recently imported from the USA. I have some paperwork that details the three owners along with the COA. However it would be nice to know which dealer it came from or how it arrived in the USA. Am I right in saying up until 1984 when Porsche established a presence in the US...

Removing yellow old glue stains in a 77 headlining
Any tips for removing or diminishing the old yellow glue stains that bleed through around the edges of the rooflining on a 77 911S? I've used Maguires to clean the lining which has got rid of all the dirt and marks from fingers etc I've tried some vinegar on a small spot which did not make a differe...

Re: 1977 911S US Spec
Can't recall my 76 912E (US spec car) having that feature. Sounds like it's been fiddled with, maybe so they don't leave the lights on when leaving the car? I quite like the idea as you say that is excludes the possibility of leaving the headlights on when you leave the car I wonder if it's an issu...

1977 911S US Spec
Seems the headlights, full beam and dip are wired to only fire up when the ignition key is in the accessory position on my US Import Is this standard, or has it been modified in the US? Unusual to say the least. I would expect headlights to be on a permanent feed, although it does make sense as late...

1977 Headlamp conversion
I need to fit UK spec headlamps on my US Import 77 911S It seems I can either replace the existing sealed beam units and fit a white lens on the existing side light in the bumper.....does anyone make a white lens to fit? Alternatively I can replace the sealed beam units with a headlamp with a side l...

Re: How desirable is a US Spec 1977 911S with 57K original m
Well the car has landed. Despite buying the car in November 2021 the car arrived just this Monday at Felixstowe. Factory fitted A/C as well as leather steering wheel, Boge Shocks, Bamberg Elecctronic. The only advantage of waiting so long was the improved exchange rate back in November compared to n...
