Hardknott & Wrynose ( Cumbria ) : Bullnose Morris on Wrynose very early 1900s before the tarmac road was laid https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240426/e470ea0f228683f9d60c2b69a231a2aa.jpg That Bullnose can be no older than 1926 season (from late 1925 to July 1926), prior to this they had no br...

Re: The Life Cycle of a 356A
Values are falling back to a more realistic level, which is great news! They have a long way to go, in your first video you say you paid £12,000 for the car as a project, that’s a bargain, even in todays market! And despite what Mathewsons may try and say (or do) on TV, Fast Fords, 90s Classics and ...

Re: My old Speedster Rep
It looked tasteful and genuine in its original guise…
Looks like a cheap (even if it isn’t!) replica now!

Do You Need To Change Your Taxation Class?
Not sure if this has been mentioned on here before, apologies if this is the case. From another forum, it seems as though DVLA are ending their link with The Post Office this coming March, many may or not be aware but if your cars’ taxation class could be (but isn’t) “historic” this is normally done...

Bell Mouth!
No, not an insult… Just wondering if the Bell-mouth added to the cooling fan intake actually helped or not? It’s missing off my car and as I’m planning an engine out service I thought it would be a good chance to re-fit one if need be. Next question, does anyone have a knackered fan shroud with an i...

Re: More scary cr@p from DVLA
Let’s be grateful that Porsche made sure the Chassis Number was properly stamped into the car itself. Many BMC cars just had a screwed on aluminium plate reverse stamped with the cars identity. If you have restored such a car and for whatever reason had to fit a new plate, the DVLA will not accept t...

Re: I'm freaked out. Found old photo online of my 356A
Well done!
I too have searched for years online for photos or indeed any information on my car from when it was new in Scotland 1962 to it being bought by the previous Brighton based owner in 1984.
A change of registration number prior to 1984 complicates things for me.

That’s very helpful.
Thank You. I’ll crack open the Briwax and work it in with a stiff paintbrush!

Ankor Wax or not?
Let’s say you have a car from 1926. It was repainted before the Second World War and It’s been in a barn since 1954, You’d want to keep that lovely patina on what paint there was left. But what to use? It needs to be dry to the touch but let the surface breathe as well as protecting from further det...

Re: More scary cr@p from DVLA
Interestingly The Late Brake Show on YouTube shows “new” 2cv vans that are electric. The one Johnny drove is on a “G” (1989) plate and still showing on DVLA as a 602cc petrol. I initially thought that the root of the issue with DVLA may have been Tax Free related. Now I’m not so sure. The guy buildi...

Optima or Traditional Lead Acid?
My 356 had been laid up for the last few years whilst I was wooed by other things. Anyway, a house move prompted me get the car out last year. The 6v Optima Red I fitted a few years before was flat. My Lidl Battery Conditioner wouldn’t do anything and a car racing chum suggested using a traditional ...

By IRS I assume you mean the one with CV joints rather than the regular Swing Axle (still technically IRS…)

Re: my non-Porsche picture of the day
Not taken by me, but a lovely image https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52678329525_c524a0270b_c_d.jpg A DVLA check shows that the Ford was registered in 1953 (so only a year old in the photo!) is now yellow, was last taxed in 1981 with the last V5 issued in 1998. The Routemaster hasn’t been so luc...
