Is there a way of setting the gear linkage/stick?

I have the rubber gaiter off my gearstick and I have noticed, as well as felt it try and go into the reverse gear section when selecting from 4th to 5th. The toggle that is to the right to help select reverse/5th moves freely. Sometimes when selecting reverse, it won't go in as this toggle is blocki...

Re: Lightweight 15" x 12J and 9J wheels

Thank you Andy for your help again.

First and last 2 wheels are the same wheel after a quick buff with a polishing mop and wax. It is also the one with the leaky bolts. Ones on the car are how they look 'eau naturale'

Polished Targa cover

I have polished my aluminium Targa cover to a mirror finish. If i put my Targa badges back on the lower sections, i will not be able to re polish that area unless i unbolt it from the car each it time and remove the badges. My thought is to paint an area that will be underneath the badge. Has any on...

Lightweight 15" x 12J and 9J wheels

I will be selling my very light, 3 piece, split rim alloys in a few weeks time. I have never picked up a wheel so light. They are polished rims with red painted hubs. The rims are thin spun aluminium, the hub is cast aluminium. I don`t know the make and have been unable to find a name on them. My ca...

Fitting of early 911 brake master cylinder grommets

After trying to fit the grommets back into the master cylinder of my 1972 911 while trying to manoeuvre around the brake light lines, steering rack suspension etc whilst on your back is ridiculously impossible and time consuming. Being a German car, there had to be a simple way? Simply remove the br...

Re: 911 Targa Roll bar cover bolts

What fasteners did you use to hold the surround in? I don't want to start electrolytic corrosion by fitting steel to aluminium.

Re: 911 Targa Roll bar cover bolts

Mines a 72 with the oil filler.

I'll have a look tomorrow at tacking new studs on.

Thanks for the advice.

911 Targa Roll bar cover bolts

I am fortunate to have 2 covers for my 1972 Targa Roll bar one of them i am polishing. One of the studs that holds it to the body behind the doors is missing. What have people done to replace it?

Other question. How do you get access to put a nut on the stud or are they just for locating the cover?

16" Fuch alloys

Can someone let me know the distance from the back face of the wherl to the tyre bead of 7j Fuch alloys with an ET 23? Yes I know how to work out offset but being an engineer I need to double check the distance from the mating face of the wheel where it sits against the brake disc to the outer tyre ...

I stopped the rocker cover leaks

I did a simple engineering trick. I laid the cover on a flat surface to find that it rocked. Not a problem. I put the cover on a flat belt sander and without pressing down Hard, I sanded it flat. While doing this and checking for low spots, I noticed lots of casting imperfections with lots of places...

Re: 1972 911 rear wings wanted

Thanks guys. 74rsman, can you pm your contact details please. I have broken the 'secret wheel society' now. I have been informed by the chaps at Karmannkonnection that RS would be too wide. The Carerra sounds the way to go but being a Targa, I want to take away some of its stumpy look. I do llike th...

What is the advantages of 16"wheels against 15"

What is the advanced of fitting 16"against 15"

I have asked the after market 911 dealers who just ignore the question. Obviously business is booming to answer a question from someone who wants to buy.
