Re: 1974 Carrera Coupe - RHD, UK car

What I really enjoy about Paul's photography is it also captures the 1970s spirit through a style that is more 1970s than today. Not over processed or made to look hyper realistic. Always a treat.

Re: Bilstein screw jack & Webster tyre inflater for '73 RS .

What is different about the jack versus later variations? Does anyone have a summary of the changes to the jack? Thanks.

WANTED: 1973 Earl's Court Motor Show Porsche photographs

I'm looking for photographs from the 1973 Earl's Court Motor Show. Anyone know someone who was there and may have taken photos of the Porsche stand? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Ryan

Re: 1974 Carrera Coupe - RHD, UK car

Does anyone know exactly when the switch from the larger Yellow Shell airbox sticker to the wide white Shell airbox sticker happened? I know it was sometime early in the 1974 model year, and that definitely by Feb 1974 (and probably at least a month or two before that) Porsche had switched to the wh...

Re: 1974 Carrera Coupe - RHD, UK car

I think you are right that finding a truly original paint rest-of-world '74 Carrera will be tough given how they were used in most of Europe, though I'd suspect finding one in Australia or possibly Japan might give us some clues. The most likely option is finding a period article showing a 1974 Carr...

WANTED: 1975 930 Turbo

The restoration of my '76 Carrera 2.7 has finished and I'm enjoying that but I'm now looking for a '75 930 Turbo as my next Porsche. If you have one for sale, or know of one, please PM me!

Re: 1974 Carrera Coupe - RHD, UK car

Sorry for traveling back in time to discuss decklid badging. Your theory about decals being used on fiberglass is interesting, and something I hadn't considered. I could be wrong, but from what I understand the early Carrera metal badges were affixed with adhesive, while later replacements (and poss...

Re: 1974 Carrera Coupe - RHD, UK car

The "silver globe" is correct for the early 1974 model year 911s, but sometime late in 1973 they switched to the "gold globe" which celebrated the championship wins in 72 & 73. Exactly when Porsche changed to the new gold globe decal is unknown, though it couldn’t have been i...

Re: 1974 Carrera Coupe - RHD, UK car

The seats look fantastic...kudos on being a bit creative with influences from other period Porsche. I always thought it strange that Porsche didn't at least do the rear seat centers when there was front seat inlays.

Re: 1974 Carrera Coupe - RHD, UK car

Originally the carpets would have been Blue/Black too. By which I mean black with just the merest hint of blue about it. It's no longer made and as it was only fitted for two years ('74 &'75) and looks largely identical to black, I can't see anyone tooling up to reproduce it anytime soon. The '...

Re: 1974 Carrera Coupe - RHD, UK car

Paul, What needs not to be overlooked is that the front valance is actually a 'spoiler' in its' own right with a lip shape at the bottom which reduces front lift by approximately 40% . This was also true of course for the valances fitted to the 2.4S and the 73RS. The front rubber lip was added only...

Re: 1974 Carrera Coupe - RHD, UK car

Ouch...having gone through quite a bit of metal repair on my 76 Carrera I know how hard this is dinging the pocketbook. Compared to yours my chassis was in great shape. Kudos for carrying on and rescuing this rare RHD beast. I'm not sure I would have had the stomach. When I was in the UK visiting Gu...
