Re: Maddening Running Issue

I know this is a different car ('72 T, running on Webers), but I had similar symptoms with what turned out to be a largely blocked fuel filter. I am not saying your filter is blocked, but more just echoing your hunch that it is fuel and not sparks. It is easy to forget the old rule, but check the re...

'72 T rear quarter trims?

Morning all, I have a '72 T coupe that has had an interior retrim in the past and I think it has lost something. My (front) seatbelt reels mount just in front of the rear arch intrusion, and are open to view. I have recently seen pics of a '72 coupe that show a trim panel, through which the seatbelt...

Re: Noise from rear corner

Thanks Chaps, That was predictable excellent and thorough. What a great community this is! 'Magnum' has put it better than I did and his, along with your other responses makes me convinced that the problem lies with the T/B bushes. I will book the car into my local, Tuthills to have it sorted as I d...

Re: Ethanol free fuel - help in Scotland!

I use the Millers in all of my old cars. The 911 is able to use unleaded, but my BMW ordinarily not so. Their VSP+e product can be bought in multi-shot concentrate from somewhere like Opie Oils and seems the cheapest way to do it. The product protects cars with softer valve seats and also has an oct...

Noise from rear corner

My '72 T has just started making a creaking noise from the left-hand rear. As the car goes over bigger bumps when that side is under load, the noise is apparent. If the car had anti-roll bars (which it doesn't), I'd say it almost sounds like a dry or worn ARB linkage or bush. Clearly, in the absence...

Thanks to Alan at Canford

I just wanted to say a huge thanks to Alan at Canford Classics for his hospitality at the weekend. As a group of Porsche/BMW enthusiasts, one of us had made contact and asked if we could come and have a look around the operation, which we did by arrangement on Saturday morning. I wasn't in my '72T, ...

Re: top end misfire

This might be irrelevant - or might help. Not sure. I run MSD and Pertronix on my '72T and is is great. Getting shot of the points was a boon. I did NOT extend the plug gap on the 911 though when I fitted MSD, following experience on my BMW M30. On that car I went for the suggested larger plug gap a...

Re: CDI box kaput, what other options are there?

I got my MSD before I knew about the lovely repro CDI units but I have to say it works a treat. Cured some very tricky hot starting issues and the car is so much more tractable when warning up.

Re: Webers - stuttering and sort of missfire

Back home safe and sound. The little car went like a dream and was much fancied, wherever we went :-) Didn't take so many photos actually, as I forgot the camera and just took a few with the obligatory iPhone. However, without boring you all rigid here are a few.... http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/...

Re: Webers - stuttering and sort of missfire

Greetings from Prague, where the little car is safely tucked up in the underground garage at the hotel. All sorted. It ran like a dream, as per usual today, so the carbs are indeed sorted now. I shall give them a bit more attention once I'm back home, but all good now. Thanks again and I hope I can ...

Re: Webers - stuttering and sort of missfire

Thank you guys - normal service has been resumed :compress: You are a great help and I'm not 100% sure that there wasn't some crap in one of the idle jets as well. The car definitely ran better yesterday after my first poke about, but today was perfect, so the inspection bung/plug was the main culpr...
