Re: 1974 CIS timing
Chopperman, My dim and distant memories of A'-Level Physics tell me that you are onto something. My '72 car has the vacuum pipe connected to a tapping at the rear of each of the manifolds, just above the heads as you say and tee'd together into the one pipe that is then connected to the distributor ...

Re: 2.4T Ignition Timing
Having been away with family for Christmas, I returned today and was keen to see how the 911 started from cold. A BIG improvement in both the time it takes for the thing to catch and the smoothness of running once it has done so. I am very pleased, but would still be interested to hear any thoughts ...

2.4T Ignition Timing
Finished my installation for the MSD, Pertronix and uprated coil this morning and am pleased with the results. I'll post some pics when I get the chance, but the initial observation is of the engine being more free-revving and happy to go to the redline. Also, the rev counter is now much less bouncy...

Re: 72 Where does the breather outlet go
Thanks Fellas. I like the Motul idea 8) I have seen the hole in the K&N images on Pelican Parts and it didn't look quite large enough for the pipe I have and there is also the smaller breather to connect. I will probably make up a union of some description and connect the two breathers together ...

Re: 72 Where does the breather outlet go
What do people do with these if they fit the K&N type separate air cleaners and do away with the big single one that sits above the motor?

Re: Tachometer Trigger Wire
Thanks Chaps. I have spotted that one and given Jonny's response, was beginning to think it must be that one.

Tachometer Trigger Wire
Hi Chaps, My Christmas jobs on the 911 are to fit MSD multi-spark and Pertronix Ignitor and I am just giving it some thought now. My car is a '72 T with (as far as I can tell) the original CDI system. Does anyone know off hand which of the wires is the trigger for the dash tachometer? I suspect with...

Re: Bosch Distributor p/n ?
Mmm. Might try a make-up mirror behind there first, to see if I can see it that way. Not sure how well acquainted I want to be at this stage

Re: Bosch Distributor p/n ?
Thanks Chaps - saved me a messy waste of time just to find out something that many others know already!
Best wishes.

Bosch Distributor p/n ?
Hi Chaps, I have a '72 T with Bosch distributor. I was under the impression that the car had a Pertronix set up when I bought it but discovered today that there is a good old-fashioned set of points in there! I'm therefore edging toward fitting a Pertronix, as it made a palpable difference to my 3.0...

Clock Restoration
I have read threads on clock rest all over the net. My problem is a little beyond that though. I have a '72 clock body with no gubbins inside it - just face and hands and cover. However, I also have a working Keinzle clock, as fitted to a BMW E9 coupe of the same era. The mechanics of the clock are,...

Re: '72T Electric Window woes
Mechanism now fixed properly. I have refitted the door trim and pockets as I thought if I left them off I would only forget how they fix and lose half of the bits, but no real answer as to what is actually wrong. The wind began working during the jiggling around with the mechanism and is still worki...

Re: '72T Electric Window woes
So, further news: Unplugged the multi-pin connector and it looked as good as new. I couldn't fire the bit embedded in the wing as it is a bit of a swine to get to, but the bit on the end of the loom that comes from the door itself looked great. I refitted this and tweaking and messing with it did no...
