Starting an engine after a year

I've been abroad for a year so Pootle has been sat in the garage without being started once. Are there any sensible things I should/shouldn't do before popping in the battery (brand new) and starting him up? He's a backdated SC with 3.0 engine. I don't think I have a DME relay as mine is an 80 sc, but will try the fuel pump relay! Thank you all

The engine on my SC wont turn over. Initially thought was just flat battery as had left radio on without engine on, but now have a fully charged battery, and a good spark, engine turns but won't fire. re: fuel - it was very low. Close one Ralf! But I need it to be set back off the road so that I don't have to stop any traffic. But my word what a beauty Lingfield garage is!!! I find myself wanting to go to all the suggestions and take a pic of Pootle outside! Here's a better idea...I am thinking seriously about organising so...

Could anyone help me with what NGK plugs are appropriate for my backdated UK 911 SC 3.0 (1980)?? I'm getting conflicting info from my service manual (says Bosch WR7DP) and world webby info, which say NGK is better, but give all sorts of spec depending on year of SC? I can't find on DDK etc my specif...
