That was some 'moment'!!
Fairly deep bit of ditch there too - glad to see you caught it, otherwise I think it would have been on the roof, no?

Re: 356 Race Car
Sounds like brilliant fun...
...but deep pockets required brilliant fun!!
Fantastic write up. Good to hear it was 'only' the diff.
Sounds like you need to get the front drums sorted though.

Re: still no sign of car
Surely you knew this before you booked it in?
I rang them about shipping a couple of weeks ago and they explained this.
What port are you shipping from?

Nothing to lose by putting in a claim.

Links within threads - should open a new tab
Not a 'problem' as such, but a suggestion. I noticed that if I click a link to another site, the new site opens in the same browser. Would it not be better to open external links in a new browser tab? If not, a reader is 'leaving' DDK every time an external link is clicked. Makes it a bugger to just...

Re: Short Term Insurance
I would think anything under £365 is pretty cheap - £1/day cannot be bad, can it?

Isn't classic car insurance for <5000 miles a year quite cheap?

Spray painting - Yorkshire/north
What would be a sensible budget to allow for a respray in the north, assuming no welding etc needed? I would strip the car of external brightwork etc, and the intenals (seats, carpet etc) would be removed. I am not expecting a fully gutted (ie instruments, looms out etc) shell. I would then need to ...

Re: California or Europe to source a 911?
Hi Mark
I know a couple of Dutch guys who buy and sell old 356s and 911s.
They buy stuff in the US and Europe. Depending how far, maybe they can go and inspect for you?
I can email them and ask.
I think I might go and have a look at some of the Dutch dealers. Lots of 911s there for some reaon.
