IRS vs Swing Axle

I'm aware that IRS is generally regarded as 'better', however I was wondering if there's a case for a swing axle set up on a 356 replica? (other than being closer to an original 356) what are the pros and cons? And what set up are you running?

Cheers

Dan.

Have you considered a Martin & Walker 356A coupe replica? You could really go to to work on one of those without concern. Outlaw is cool, non reversible mods no so much IMO.

Re: King of the Hill?

Was 'King of the Hill' with Harry Hamlin ever put onto DVD? This is a 356 racer who beat all comers in the hills in California, meant to be based on a true event ??? Correct me if I am wrong. Great racing especially with the 356 but it has been cut about a bit!! If it is on DVD let us know!! Regard...

Thanks for everyones input, having slept on it I've decided to nt bother with that particular chassis. Your right to say I'd better off getting a chassis thats already been Shortend. I'll try not to let my enthusiasm run away with me again. Cheers!

Thanks for the response Del, I don't doubt that speedster clinic chassis are superb, however as long as it's professionally done on a jig (ie I won't be doing it) a shortened vw chassis is a tried and tested design for kit building, as is IRS conversion. Your right about the price though, I'd let th...

Ok, even though I said a couple of posts back I've had to postpone the chassis, I was surfing around on ebay as you do a came across a nice restored chassis, with and engine and gearbox, in my town! And for what seems to me a fair price. Being the total noob that I am Id appreciate you guys having a...

Impessive looking stuff Gary, sadly real life intervenes and I've had to put everything on hold for now. It's all been noted for future reference though.
