Hi Ian. thanks for that. I should be at a few more shows this year, the usual suspects, Stoneleigh, Picnic in the Park etc. Unfortunately most of my work during the Summer is at weekends, so clashes with most shows. The problem of being an A/V engineer for outdoor sporting events. Got to pay for the...

I saw Nigels in a magazine, a very nice job, and top workmanship. He`s got original brakes etc, mine`s all about what`s above the fibreglass. Apparently he had a lot of help from Karmann Connection with dimensions from their original Speedster. Mine was all solely fabricated from pictures. Mine has ...

Hi, Stoddard or NLA in the States are your best bet, but they aint cheap. Wait for a good exchange rate. Steer clear or Sierra Madre bargain 4x short ones for £100. When I came around to fitting them, they were pitted badly chromed and the bolts were rusty. I managed to salvage the best two for the ...

Thanks Roy, the doors were a major challenge, but I thought I can`t make them any worse. Any restoration shop would have scrapped them. I actually made too good a job on the panel beating, as the filler is so thin in places it`s starting to crack. I`ve had to re-inforce the back with fibreglass. I d...

Hi Roy, it`s running a 1641cc Beetle lump with twin Webers. I`ve concentrated on accurate looks as opposed to originality underneath, it`s still a Beetle chassis at the end of the day. I`ve never looked at the grab handle, I bought it off an old boy, NOS and he said it was for his original Speedster...

---Unless you know different !!! Hi, new to DDK, old to replicas. My names Michael Kempster, I should have signed up to this site years ago, as I`m a member of most of the other clubs/forums. A bit about me and my cars. I built my L&B Speedster in 2000, to prove a point that you could build one ...
