Re: door straps

I would say that's normal and there is a 'dimple' in the check strap so the door can 'stop' in the half open position as well as at fully open. If you open to the first 'click' the door should be relatively stable in that position, and then click again as you move it out of the dimple to the fully o...

Re: Side windows + rubber + channel

Heat is your friend - either using a heat gun or very hot water as suggested above. As I recall there was some glue involved but the heat releases it.

Re: Rear trailing arm bolt removal

I assume it's No. 4 that's the problem. Can only be rusted into the bush (no. 2).

BFH after WD40.

Re: Historic Grand Prix, Zandvoort

I was told by now sadly departed Bob Watson that his car AMR 900L (now mine restored) still holds the lap record at Zandvoort for it's class - although I was unable to find any way of confirming this. Admittedly this is is because they changed the circuit just after, but I don't care! If true, it wo...

Re: The Manhattan Project

The four small ones look like those that were fitted in the holes along the inner edge of the body frame down by the seat base - about 15mm up from the floor pan. I think they were used when the frame was wax oiled or similar. These holes might have been filled in during the resto. Ones similar to t...

Re: Door latch rebuild?

It's the part that fastens to the B post that I suggested Neil checks out as often the plastic inserts disintegrate over time.
Apparently there is also some play in the latch mechanism inside the door, hence Neil's second question.

Just to be clear ......:)

Re: What are these left over parts located?

The LH piece is used where the lower front part of the door window surround is attached the the door frame down below the winder handle.

The RH piece looks like an off-cut from the engine to chassis seal. Does the thin bit have two layers?
