So do you get everything you need? All the bolts etc? My car had static belts and I've read a lot of people saying that they are worried about fitting belts themselves. I've never understoon this as its the same to me as working on your own brakes, suspension etc - mess up and it hurts. Is there a l...

You can get the MFI manual "Check, Measure, Adjust" by downloading it but I can't remember where from. If you can't find it PM me and I'll email it to you. Richness can also be caused by your injectors being worn out. You end up with a car that's difficult to set up. Mine are worn and it r...

Missed Husbourne Crawley because I was in Istanbul for work and ditto missed this one because I was tanking it down the M1 from Newcastle from a meeting. How much do you need to have in the bank to retire and just play with Porsches? £20m? Helsikinki sounds better than Newcastle though!

Can't say what it cost as he did it for nothing as we've spent a bit with him over the last few months  Compared to other highly regarded 'experts' who've serviced my clocks he's fantastic. I promised I'd give him a plug. Give him a call and I'm sure he'll give you a rough idea. I like clocks ...

Clock Repair

I've just had some clocks serviced by someone highly recommended to me. I gave him my 911 clock too as it has never really run correctly. It is now back and running perfectly. Done by a guy called Stephen Ardley - http://www.clock-repairs.com He knows his stuff and has done some lovely work on very ...

Luke, what did you do in the end? I've got my front suspension out and bought new A arms. Finally got round to really looking at it - didn't realise that the balljoints were going to be such a pain. I don't suppose these parts are re-usable either so I'll have to spring for some new ones then find a...

Nice to see everyone last night. Not a bad turnoput either - 5 cars on a salty evening. I don't see why we can't aim for 20 cars by the summer.

Nice to put some faces to the names.

Plus Gas works. It also attracts the 'ladees'. A dab behind each ear before you go out....

You can get it ( and many other interesting and expensive things) from RS. http://rswww.com. Just type "plus gas" into the search.

I bought some lenses with tatty chrome off ebay. I was saving this for a wet sunday afternoon job but was going to remove the chrome and put a line of silver paint round the INSIDE. Is this the wrong thing to do then?

Hmm. A friend of mine with a 928 got one just by charming the person at Porsche. They faxed it to him for nothing. My car was fairly original when I got it, just the only things that look like they've been added were a modern stereo/cd changer (now gone to make way for the Becker when the fund reach...

Jeez. What a rip off! Thanks guys. That's £60 towards the "Becker Radio Fund".

I owe you one.

I'm going to send the DVLA a fiver then write to all the previous owners and see if I can dig anything up that way.

Buying car history from Porsche

I understand that I can pay Porsche GB £64.62 and get a 'chassis check' done on my car. They'll give me the ordiginal costs, options etc. Has anyone done this? What do you actually get? Is it worth it?

Anyone know why Porsche don't make replacement bushes? I need to sort out my suspension but guess I can't powdercoat the arms without replacing the bushes and I've been advised to keep the car stock when it comes to the bushes to stop it getting too hard. New arms ( with the bushes) are £150 each. T...

Thanks. It was never that busy for the bike endurance. I'm getting muddled up now in my mind between Spa and Le Mans but I remember being able to get onto the track as the bikes finished, shin up the wall in the pit lane and pinch the banner across Suzuki's pit. I looked after it carefully all the w...

I might go if my car works. I haven't been to Le Mans since the early 90's (for the 24 hr bike races, not cars). Does anyone have any links to sites that give a bit more info about camping etc (no jokes please!). On bikes, we just used to turn up but I guess more people go to the car race. Traffic l...
