Re: FUCH Wheel restoration

These are the set of 15" 7 & 8s I had done at Lee Mayor Restorations.
They are that nice I've never mounted any tyres......silly isn't it.

Re: Who do we use for engine rebuilds now?

Another thumbs up for Mike Bainbridge, he's just done a full rebuild on my Targas 3.0SC motor and gearbox last year.
Not the quickest by any means but at least you know it's been done correctly.
I wish I could download Mikes knowledge on Aircooled engines and gearboxes.

Anybody know this 1970 911E

https://www.bpiauctions.com/auctions/?g ... 544/243414

Last MOT was 2015 and it's done less than 200 miles according to the clocks.
Looks like it's been stored in a warehouse and not used.

Don't think they'd tackle Anodised and painting finish of a fuches wheel.

Re: Irrational Lockdown Car Consideration

I ended up buying this just before Christmas and working my way through, body all solid, engine rebuilt 2000 miles ago, alfaholics suspension with bilsteins, been working through it, general service work and odd electrical gremlins.....well it is Italian. 1970 GTV1750 https://www.amazon.co.uk/photos...

He's been a great character on The Motorcycle Show, I think Henry Cole is in love with him
Amazing what he can do in his garage and looks such an unassuming little man.

Another thumbs up for Lee Mayor although I had set done with Nick at Early 911 some time ago and they were good too but not sure he's still doing them.

Re: Classic Technical Certificate.

I've had a letter and a book from Official Porsche classic centre Leeds and they are doing the same thing, it doesn't give a cost of it but it looks like it ties you into servicing with them too so that equates to lots of ££££s.

Re: Minor Service Cost on Porsche 997 C4S - Staggered!

Don't bother with OPCs on cars like this, indies give far better service IMO and realistic prices and you can speak to the Mechanic rather than someone thats sat at desk thats probably never seen your car.

Re: Plating and restrengthening suspension bolts

Hi Dean, I wouldn't rely on baking them any later than 1 hour after cleaning and plating on grades above 8.8. In the 32 years I've been here I can't recall having any fasteners fail due to hydrogen embrittlement cracking. We do have one offshore customer that has there special fasteners Zinc Nickel ...
