Re: Early vs IB
My 2c - pre 73 cars feel that bit lighter, and driving an MFI car is a pleasure like no other. post 73 cars have a style of their own - especially the narrow bodied cars (of course they usually need a better engine than they were born with - for the most part the CIS engines feel dull by comparison)...

Re: DDK EUROPEAN TOUR : 23rd - 25th SEPT 2011
Hope you get well Russ - less than ideal. James & Brian - thanks so much for organising. Everyone else, great meeting you - it was a cracking weekend away (tho quieter for me than some as jet lag prevented too much late night shenanigans). The driving through the eiffels was sensational, Spa a c...

Some nice footage from the Australian Classic racing scene
Here's some good footage from a recent winter meeting in Sydney. Some interesting classics here (recent F1 cars noted), along with the Group S cars (Sa = 74/75 Carreras, 73 RS's and C3s - note no replicas allowed) and Sb = pre 70 - so 2L LWB cars. http://vimeo.com/25657156 Credit to Matt Hart - the ...

I've got Sonos going directly into the Cyrus box, driven off the iPad (which the 3 yr old can drive to get her kids songs playing). For NAS, Sonos just accesses the songs on the Mac. And I have a spotify subscription and since we've got that all music comes down the wires rather than off the Mac or ...

Jasper - in my view the E (well in a 2.4 anyway) is the best compromise - for day to day driving you're never off the boil. The comparisons between E's and T's arent really all the realistic, because of the difference between MFI and Carbs. The MFI engines at that capacity at least have a snappier t...

Hi Redrobin, I was at a track day in belgium recently with a keen driver/collector, who among other things tried last time to get an entry for his real 3.0L RSR, co-driving with Guys van Lennep (past winner of Le Mans), and was told that unfortunately because his car ran in the US rather than Europe...

Hi Mick - go you for kicking it off. When I had it I got Bob Watson to run it over the dyno - have got the sheet - and he seemed to think all was mechanically fine. He even gave me a leak down test, which was good as I recall. The dyno line was bumpy - i.e. it needed a tune, but he suggested the MFI...

Unitl now I've always had Dansk (not stainless) again for the noise. Given I wanted to do track days, I got turbo thomas to do a stainless one, (two out, one side capped). It delivered additional horsepower (uncapped) than the dansk, though doesnt sound as good (on overrun). Looks nice in stainless,...

I've had a C4 and a C2. C2 much, much better. The 93 cars are the pick. Clutch lighter, bigger rear calipers, better designed top end (they seal better), and arguably last of the hand built cars. As per Sam's comment, they are great for motorways and lanes, and are cracking looking. Allow 2-3k a yea...

I ran a Dansk two out for 10 yrs (on a 2.7MFI) which worked a treat, but too noisy here, so got turbo thomas to do a two out (one capped). So for track days put the cap on at noise testing (104db), and on the track take it off (its much louder, but I havent been pulled up yet) and with the cap off t...
