Re: 914 restoration project

The Greatworth one looks good value compared to the eBay and Dutch one. Both of those look like they’d consume a huge amount of cash and time to get to an acceptable standard. Good 914’s do come up across the year and as mentioned the UK914 Facebook group is active and often gets first notice of a s...

Re: Reproduction rear tail lights and front indicator units

Hi Michael did you get any views on these as I need a new front indicator lense as mine has cracked (misplaced hand from a helper pushing my 914 back into the garage......)

Re: Cooling question

In my youth when I was running tuned beetle engines I was told that leaving the flaps open all the time was fine if the thermostat was playing up, in that in our moderate climate there was no real problem with cooling air all the time. Not sure if it was correct but I ran a coupLe of engines like th...

Engine grill letters

Hi all, I've now got my '74 2:0 litre back from being brought back to life by Angus at CamperCo and I'm looking at a few little things which are letting the side down now she has new fresh shiny red paint. One of which is the chrome/silver P O R S C H E letters on the engine grill. I remember replac...

Re: Convert to RHD

Many moons ago I had a right hand drive conversion done by a garage in the NW, she was an orange 2:0 litre, great car but when I sat in an original lhd and then in Ian McMath's Crayford rhd conversion I realised that in my car they hadn't got the pedal assembly true to the original as it involved re...

Re: Recommendations

Thanks for the replies all. I've spoken to Angus and he is due to have a look at my 914 this week. Only downside is his business is clearly thriving as it will be a 3 month wait to do the main work, although engine can start sooner. I'm having to curb my impatience! Having waited 12 years I guess 3 ...

Recommendations

Hi there, after several years of stop start work on my '74 2:0 litre I have finally decided that I must ship the car to a professional to do the work. I just don't have the time, with work, family and house project mean it will never get done. I'm looking for reccomendations from those on here as to...

Re: crayford running

Fantastic, I remember your car from Castle Combe many years ago. I had an orange rhd converted 2:0 litre. Sitting in yours made me realise that the pedals on mine hadn't been done as well as the Crayford conversion. You have also given me hope as my current 914 ("just " an original left ho...

Re: Fuel lines & hoses

Thanks, kit looks a good solution, I think I'll try the OPC for the intake manifold pieces. I have asked at Roger Bray as I was looking to buy some other parts, but they didnt get back to me today. Already have that feeling of uncertainty I get when I deal with them! In fact thinking about it I'll a...

Re: Fuel lines & hoses

Eta now found Dave Darlings useful diagram of the hoses on the pelican parts site which shows all the internal dimensions and the lengths of the fabric covered hoses which make up the rest of the FI system.

Re: Fuel lines & hoses

Ok all ordered from AFS, does anyone have any views on the breather hoses? Also the large diameter fabric covered pieces on the inlet manifold from the throttle body. I have seen pics on a couple of sites of 914's with lovely clean versions of these so they must be available in that diameter?!?

Re: Fuel lines & hoses

Thanks for that, it's really useful. AFS list either 7.6mm or 9.5mm so I'm guessing these are the correct ones.

Re: Fuel lines & hoses

Hmm I was wondering about the lines under the tank.... Haven't done that before but I guess compared to the other jobs I've tackled thus far it'll be ok......
