I had similar problem on my 912, did a lot of testing, fitted an alternator conversion which I would reccomend but battery on occasions still went flat. Found corroded connection on alternator to battery cable in engine bay just under the near side hinge eventually. Tidied it up and no further probl...

Magnus, drive in the hills between Faslane at Helensburgh and Loch Lomond, great roads and views. Don't worry about the Military Police too much. If you've got a bit more time head to Loch Rannoch and do a circuit of the Loch. Be canny with your speed, lots of activity.
