Re: 1987 3.2 Carrera Backdate project - Sladeys hotrod
Thanks guys. In the middle of the night I started thinking that the problem could still be with the injection loom. I know it got stretched when I first removed the engine and I know some of the wiring has splits in it. Given that the injector driver circuit in the ECU was damaged, that could certa...

Re: 1987 3.2 Carrera Backdate project - Sladeys hotrod
Isn't the number one cause of laid up 3.2 non-starts gummed up injectors? Could it be that the Canems unit pulse width isn't wide enough to open the blocked injector, whereas holding the injector to ground does?
I realise you tested this with the noid LED, but I would revisit that.

Re: Using a snap-on timing light
well since you'll be in the distributor anyway, why not lock the weights and give it a go? We can put the map in it for you if you like.

Re: Using a snap-on timing light
Provided your readings are accurate, that would suggest the springs are weak in the distributor.

Re: Using a snap-on timing light
Yes, that's correct. Essentially you're doing the same thing but the other way around - adjusting the lamp delay instead of the distributor position. So, in your idle example, if you set the timing light to 5ATDC, the flash should appear on the TDC mark. At 2000 RPM, you can adjust the timing light ...

Re: Using a snap-on timing light
It's basically a delay in flashing the bulb so that the timing you require shows on the tdc mark. If you have the timing light adv set to 5 ATDC then you'd turn the distributor until the flash is on TDC (at idle). If you wanted -say- 25 BTDC at 4000, set the light adv to 25 BTDC then you'd turn the ...

Interesting reading. We provide full email and telephone support for our kits and it is amazing how varied the questions are - to the point that if we put every answer to every question back into the manual, it would probably be 1000 pages long! On thing is a theme though. The kit is designed for a ...

Re: Amplifier Experts?
Much of my work was on the pro side but I did have a turntable till the late eighties. Afterwards we periodically used them for shows, once a £15,000 one but in an AB, the problems are obvious and believers think you can’t design a phono stage. Vinyl is hugely profitable for ailing record companies...

Re: Alternator
The charging system voltage depends on a few things.. 1. How drained the battery is. 12.6 suggests you battery is fully charged so it won't need much more charging. 2. The temperature of the battery and cables 3. The voltage drop across the cable ( from alternator to battery incl. the earth) 4. The ...
