Re: Has ebay uk market place changed ?

On the flip side, instead of taking things to the tip (sorry - ‘recycling centre’), FB Marketplace will have two peculiar fellows turn up in a Nissan Micra before you can finish typing ‘free’. Works for everything.

Re: New member and a '68 911T

Wow, amazing and welcome.

One thing puzzling me. The car looks in plain view of the pavement/road. Assuming this is your grandfather's drive, how many times a week did he have to answer the door to refuse an offer?

Re: EV conversions and DVLA

I agree that the numbers are daft though, anything sub 6 to 60 is still properly quick. I'm currently at 4.5s in the 914 which is a little silly. Usually when you are driving an old car, you tense up and prepare to brace when someone pulls out late from a side road. Now, there's a new game... I pul...

Re: EV conversions and DVLA

So if the Mini factory is doing bespoke conversions of old Mini’s to EV are they then subject to a Q plate and IVA test, or does DVLA just overlook this because it is an official factory conversion?? https://www.mini.co.uk/en_GB/home/mini-news/mini-recharged.html https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/mini/...

Re: EV conversions and DVLA

Wow, this is going to cause a lot of unsafe conversions. I would really like to know how to properly secure 250kg of batteries without either a welded bracket or a bolted fixing to the chassis. Using factory holes for unintended uses may well be dangerous. I guess G- clamps, lorry straps and velcro ...

Re: Eeee Geee

I suggest you write to Baroness Vere of Norbiton drawing the matter to her attention. Failing that, your own mp should oblige in bringing the matter to her attention. I personally think a well-thought out correspondence outlining the problem and suggesting a common-sense solution, to somebody havin...

Re: Eeee Geee

Agree, I would carry on with the G. Just don’t apply to change the fuel type!

Re: Eeee Geee

^ Yep, it’s what I was ranting on about a couple of weeks ago.

DVLA have put a whole industry in jeopardy because they have no way of dealing with classic EV conversions.

Just use the push fit aeroquip pipe. My whole car is piped like that. Job done.

Re: 1972 ST Clone

Quite a tale! I've only ever had one recovery - that was with the AA. Clever fold out tow dolly in back of the van. 40 minute wait. Interesting looking at the failed oil line that requires a hydraulic tool to crimp. I replaced all my oil lines with modern aeroquip push fit. You just put the hose end...

Re: KS's hillclimbing odyssey

Sorry for slight diversion here. There's a massive ding dong going on in the classic EV conversion world atm where folks are being forced into IVA because of holes drilled in, or brackets welded to their chassis making them non-original in the eyes of the DVLA. A guy recently had been told to IVA be...

Re: Classics at the Castle

I'm going to miss this and I'm gutted - however. Katharine who has to suffer me on a daily basis happens to be celebrating her birthday this Sunday and although we will only be in Cambridge and not far from Hedingham my romantic birthday day doesn't include looking at old Porsches which she can tol...
