Batteries

Car is mechanical fuel injection. No Zeniths. Has a swich on the nearside stack if thats the bit you mean as a micro swithch. I did replace the fuse box and I did'nt notice such a power drain prior to altering it. I would guess that it is upside down so I'll look carefully at the cable colours and m...

Batteries

Hi thanks.

I understood that the fuses should read up side down ie as you put your head under the bonnet you would read them 123 from the bottom up. Am I being too unscientific here.

I guess the colour of the wires might tell me ?

Back to the car.

I've had some success with this problem thanks but now not sure on my next step. I have I think isolated the issue, it was the RPM Transducer. This is the first square metal box on the rear cradle on the left of the engine bay, haynes manual page 206 picture item 5. Everytime we connected the power ...

Seatbelts

HI again sorry been away. I have only replaced the front belts. I picked up some from, if I remember a 1974/75 car. The mountings for the belt itself were already in the car just aft of the B pillars. The rest of the belt attaches via the Bpillar and down to the seats. The only thing extra you have t...

Seatbelts

I have already fitted inertia seatbelts in place of the statics. You need to get the rear side cards to make it neat ,poss from a later car as well as the belts themselves. There are companies which can make up belts correctly and in different colours. You need to also be sure that your seats can ta...

Drains

Just read this thread so sorry if its so late. I have just rerouted my down pipes away from the sills alltogether. It always concerned me that any water going anywhere near the front part of the sills could attract dust and then dirt and then become damp again leading eventually to rust. I had remov...

Seat Belts

I've a '73 'E' the belts are on the seat bases. on the receiving part and end of belt section. Previously they were through the floor sections. One thing I would say is that when they are on the seat the retainer section is still attached, as you would expect to the door 'B' section, this means when...

Batteries

Thanks Barry and Ad. I did have a spark on connection. Hav'nt got a tester but sounds like a useful tool. I see what you mean about the 'drain searching' that was the one thing which was daunting I realised there are a huge number of connections etc that could cause this and just the thought of find...

Clutch issue

There is a small block which goes between the forked ends of the clutch lever and passes over the cable. This used to be a bakerlite type of material with two metal pins which located in the claw part of the clutch lever. This has been replaced with a new all metal block. If its this its very easy t...

Trackers

Horrified to hear the news hope its picked up soon. My understanding of how a tracker works is that there is no magic signal that is omitted so you can immediately triangulate, to tiangulate you would need to have an idea of where the vehicle is. Triangulation gets you closer. Sure the signal is bei...

Seats

Will do just as soon as they are back in.

There's so much space with them out I'm doing some work behind the dash. Quite nice laying in the car feet near the rear window instead of twisting usually in the wrong direction.
