You might not know this as your 914 body shell is a U.S. spec. 1974 model year. This means your doors have built in side impact protection.

Re: 914 - Roll bar solutions

The 914 is very well designed, it has two roll protections already built in to the design: 1) The surround that goes up and across the rear window. 2) The surround round the front windscreen. These are the parts of the 914 that will make contact if this low centre of gravity car ends up upside down ...

Re: Restoring my first 914

My 42 year old car in US spec I believe (unless Kev corrects me) in FI form achieved 91 HP at 4900 rpm when new. Now 42 years, 119,000 miles and on Carbs later, I’ve got 95.3HP ! Not a bad result. :) Darren the HP figure you quote for your US spec GA 2.0 engine: 91 HP @ 4900 rpm is the figu...

Re: 914 conversion questions

Also moving the battery to the front hood. So now have a nice sealed battery and up sized cable plus battery box. So thinking of putting the battery passenger side, up against the corner. So where to run the cable?? I'm thinking through the bulkhead into the car along the sill line out the rear bul...

I spend my weekends and some evenings (if the 914 is local to me) working on 914s.
I travel to the 914 with my 914 full of tools.
I'm based down the road from you in the Sutton area.
There is a high chance I can help you out

Re: PMB 914-6/GT - Rear Calipers

And why is there a bleed nipple at the bottom of the caliper? Graham Good question? One for each piston perhaps?? Early 914-4 and 914-6 rear calipers only had one bleed nipple, late 914-4 rear calipers had two. I think this was just so they only had to machine one outside casting that would fitted ...

Re: Brake lights not working

Thanks Mike. It is indeed on the 914. The master cylinder is a 19mm one from a 911 I believe. I got rid of that pedal switch many years ago and wired it instead to the brake witch on the master cylinder. Original wiring on the 914 does not have a relay for the brake lights. Did you fit a new brake ...

Re: It's all black and white

Was very late home from work yesterday, but spent 5 mins in the garage looking at a shiny white 914 As far as I can tell it's as described. Shiny, solid, workman-like-good. Been trying to get an early MoT in on Sat to see what's got to be done to get it passed, but can't find anyone to do it. Will ...

Re: Warning Light Bulbs

Had the same trouble on some of my 914 rev counters, the problem is the coloured plastic film which covers the illuminated indicator holes inside the instrument has got darker, the blue over the years due to heat and sunlight has turned black and even if you increase the light output of the bulb the...

The add just doesn't make sense "The 2.0 litre flat 4 air cooled engine and gear box and Turbo system is all in place," so it's a 4 cylinder factory Turbo? Badge looks far from factory! http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTE5NVgxNjAw/z/8wYAAOSwrXdXKln1/$_57.JPG Next he be say that a rare factor op...

Re: VW or Porsche?

Would I be correct in thinking that if the V5 says the 914 is a Porsche then it must be a USA import, if it says VW it's a European import. Is there any cars out there registered as VW/Porsche? No not correct. Back when they were new they were many registered as a Porsche and the V5 doesn't state t...

Yes, the 914 passes were sent out yesterday, I missed the last post, so it should fall onto your doormat on Friday.
