Re: rear springs
The Spidan spring is not actually listed for 914 on the GKN website Not true Angus, see below. And I have fitted a few and so have a few people on here and found they work fine, just adjust the spring plate to one of the 6 settings. https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/20840781_15920325041...

Re: rear springs
All depends on how you will be using the 914.
If you are using the 914 for touring and general driving the standard spring set is fine.
The higher the spring rating the harder the ride will be and will be a lot less comfortable if you are going to be spend hours travelling in it.

Re: master cylinder replace or refurb?
Kev - I’m not sure which one I need to order! What do you mean by euro or us spec? I know they are both larger 19mm but which one? I have a 1973 2.0 us car. Paul The US spec 914 brake master cylinder had a brake warning switch fitted that if brake pressure failed it would trigger the flashing red b...

Re: master cylinder replace or refurb?
Having spoken to past parts they can refurbish the 17mm and 19mm cylinders. They have the seal kits in stock and quoted £80 to £100 plus vat. Will send mine off once i have removed it. When required on my 914s and other 914s that I work on I will always fit a new brake master cylinder. The rebuild ...

what adhesive did you use for the sail vinyl? I used this. Good adhesion and easy to work with. https://s33.postimg.org/rikjr7yq7/BE4_C3879-0543-456_D-95_F0-16_BCF50_FF16_A.jpg Warning don’t just use any vinyl spray adhesive sticking on your sail panel vinyl. Use a professional high temperature spr...

Re: I've bought a RHD 914
My car was first registered in Singapore in September 1975. I'm trying to find out who the first owner was as DVLA seem to think it was previously registered in the UK. I spoke to the DVLA help line, who were very helpful, and they are looking through their records to see if they can find the origi...

Re: refurbing rear calipers
Both sides on the handbrake side of the caliper have the same problem. I think the female thread has stretched and that's the problem in reassembly. Strange but maybe it's been used under heavy handbrake use with a previous owner. Failing the ability to repair or replace these bits I will look into...

Re: steel wheels
My car came with a set of steels as manky roller rims. I don't have the coa yet to see what was originally fitted. Today i took it out of the garage for some fresh air & space needed work when stood back and thought hmm, i quite quite like the steels look (obviously refurbed if i keep them). On...

Are your 914 headlights now raising and lowing in sync?Dean.s wrote:After 3 more blown fuses it turned out to be a bad relay. Strange how it didn't blow before but that's how it goes I guess.

Re: 914 headlight motor / wiper motor
If you remove the relay and replace the fuse, then manually wind the headlight motor into a different position, does it still blow the fuse when the relay is pushed back in?

Re: 914 headlight motor / wiper motor
I have a problem with my passenger side headlight motor, it won't raise but will lower after having been manually raised. Anyone know what this is? Most common reason that the headlight motor doesn't rise the light is down to a faulty relay which is found under the plastic cover by the motor. To ch...

Re: 914 door locks
Hello Brian & Kate, Your lock barrels are fine and match the ignition key. The problem is on No.36 is that on the inside door panel the standard lock and open the door lever has been removed and a pull cord added which opens the door in its place. Inside on the door catch and release mechanism p...
