Graham, some time ago I looked long and hard at the trailer market. I eventually bought new to get the spec I wanted, very much along your llines. I eventually bought a Fountain Trailer from Boston. Chris Fountain did me a really good deal and even built it so it would go into my garage by modifying...

I guess this is a Three Castles decision and not an MSA ruling. Pity. There is a lot of discussion at the moment through the HRCR about using less than 70 profile tyres. Imps have had the OK as there are no 12 inch 70 profiles left. Just in process of trying some Vredstein Sprint Classic which are a...

When you say they, do you mean Three Castles or MSA? I am very interested as this would mean I could run different wheel and tyre sizes on MSA events. What 70 profile tyres are you running the front?

Hi I have not done the Three Castles. Is it run to MSA rules? If so you should be aware that maximum rim diamter is 6J and minimum profile tyres allowed are 70 profile. (See Blue book H126) I currently have this issue wiyth my new 911. Had to buy a set of 6J rims and source some suitable 70 profile ...

Well after lots of searching I have decided to obtain some Vredstein Sprint Classics. It seems they are only sold through Vintage Tyres. I contacted Vredstein who were not exactly helpful. My local dealer has managed to order some through Vintage Tyres and should be here next week. Getting close to ...

Andy, Yes I did. I don't think they would stand up to well to a regulairty test on a forest track. I used to have Dunlop D83J's as a tarmac stage tyre on my Midget. Similar to the Avon's but they only lasted limited mileage!!! I used Colways on the Midget for road rallying which despite everything y...

Tyres for regularity rally car

I have recently acquired a Porsche 911 for use as a regularity rally car. (Going to be a bit different to the MG Midget I ran previously!!) MSA events only allow the use of 6J rims for road based events and the minimum allowable profile is 70. I have been searching around for available tyres which h...

Hi Helen, I collected my car from Tuthills Friday before and saw your car there. Looking good. I had seen it previously in the body shop when I was up there. I had a 2.7 engine conversion, front and rear underguards fitted plus a few other jobs. I have a host of other jobs now to finish off the prep...

I have to agree with Helen. Whilst I have not had body work done by Tuthills, I am due to collect my car from there tomorrow after an engine job and some rally preparation. I have seen their fabrication and paintwork both on rally and road cars first hand and their work is first class. Wherever you ...

Your problem could be assocotiated with a lot of things electric or fuel related and it will take a systematic search through each system to check the correct function of both Has the car been sitting unused for a long time? I can tell you of a problem I had soon after picking up my car which had no...

Hi, I used to insure all my classic and modern cars with Footman James for many years. My MG Midget was rally prepared and highly modified which seemed no problem nor was my Subaru road car. When I came to insure the 911 RS Replica they did not want to even quote. It seemed the roll cage put them of...

Helen, You are not confused. I was, but budget prevailed and I have gone for a category 2 car.(Pre 1974) It just means that on UK MSA events I have to ask the event organisers to obtain the OK from the MSA to run. Daft because I could run a pre 1968 car with no issues. Other people are running cat 2...

Hi from another new member

Hello DDKer's Not only new to DDK but new to Porsche. To fund the new project I have just sold a lovely 1968 MGC and have hopefully sold my Historic Rally Midget. I guess that gives my interest in historic rallying away. I chatted to Helen at the DDK stand at the NEC in November and looked all over ...
