Re: 1973 2.4T CIS Restomod
I wanted to replace the smelly old carpet set (it was a cheap after-market job) with a nice new salt and pepper set. For a small car there are quite a few bits in a 911: https://c3.staticflickr.com/6/5497/31433055186_5d31124899_z.jpg By this time Classicfx was up and running, and Garry offered to le...

Re: 1973 2.4T CIS Restomod
While licking my wounds after having added a bit of unintended 'patina' to the car, I pressed on with other stuff. The engine shroud got a good cleaning: https://c4.staticflickr.com/6/5613/31199378851_a7cdf60fd8_z.jpg Under the car, the front suspension, rack and brake lines went in, along with the ...

Re: 1973 2.4T CIS Restomod
I guess that when you're working on a long complicated project* like a 911 restoration you should expect one complete and utter balls up. This was mine, and it was fitting the oil cooler. First I flushed, cleaned up and POR15 the oil lines, and fitted them under the car. I expected to find the capti...

Re: 1973 2.4T CIS Restomod
So while the Badger Boys looked after the engine, I spent the spring and summer working on the rest of the rebuild. I got my two sons to spend some of their Easter hols on some bling. I'd found an original alloy grill to replace the plastic IB one that was on the car when I bought it: https://c5.sta...

Re: 1973 2.4T CIS Restomod
So there I was, I had ancient 911T engine in pieces but looking basically sound, and self-destructed 'bullet proof' 964 engine also needing an engine rebuild. And a budget that would just about cover one or the other. I've met some great people through DDK, but Mick Temple and Garry Hall are paragon...

Re: 911RS Replica Engine Specification
Remember, the 2.7RS was built to allow the use of low octane 2* fuel, and had a lowly 8.5:1 compression ratio.

Re: Verstappen.....
Reminded me of Senna in a wet Monte Carlo many many years ago. Simply on another level  Better still, it reminded me of a young Stefan Bellof at a wet Monaco GP many years ago...... By the early finish due to a red flag on lap 31 because of deteriorating conditions, he [Bellof] was third, c...

Re: 968 sport
For balance, I drove a 968CS back to back with a 964RS, and much preferred the chassis balance, ride & practicality of the former as a road car.

Popped to Waitrose today. This would never happen at the Asda. https://c5.staticflickr.com/6/5549/30268868884_653ebfdb28_z.jpg Appeared to be a folder, maybe even electric ?!? Whatever, it was it looked thoroughly engineered and very nicely finished. https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5734/30900958505_0...

Not the 68; Porsche fixed that in 85.Nick Moss wrote:If you are tall you may find the driving position cramped, the wheel is mounted very low.

Re: 968 sport
I've had good dealings with Phil in the past. The 968 is a very well developed design but has some weaknesses. Its easy to research, but off the top of my head the big ones are potential engine top-end issues, and diffs. A new clutch is a biggish job too. As with all front engined Porsches, a well m...
