Re: Tracking down my orginal 1959 356A 1.6 engine

Thanks, Keith. Shame about Mark's recent buggy purchase. How coincidental if that had been it.
Thanks also, Nine One One (sorry, don't know your real name : ) That's very helpful. I've registered and will ask there too.

Re: Tracking down my orginal 1959 356A 1.6 engine

Thanks, Hugo. I have searched for the engine in the past, but only recently found out it was put into a buggy.

Sorry, is this one thing or 2 / 3 different things? I've not heard of any of these?

Re: Tracking down my orginal 1959 356A 1.6 engine

Thanks Bruce.
I forgot about VZI. Not been on there for years. I'll give it a go.

I've conversed with Mike from PRS in the past. I don't recall directly asking about the engine, but he supplied cardex info so assume he'd have mentioned any further, but worth a shot.

Thanks for the reply.

Tracking down my orginal 1959 356A 1.6 engine

Hello. I'm just looking for possible ideas here to track down what happened to my original 1600 engine. I included the following images in an older thread about finding pictures online, of my car from the late 1960s. But, I've been thinking about the following since, but not sure where to start with...

Re: I'm freaked out. Found old photo online of my 356A

So, quick update. I told the owner from the 1960s that I'd try to dig out some photos I've taken of my car over the years. I bought is from Burton on Trent in early July 1996, from a classified ad in the back of Classic Car mag I think, so almost 27 years ago. I can't believe it's been this long. It...

Re: I'm freaked out. Found old photo online of my 356A

Thanks, James. Yes, it really does. It's kind of odd, after all these years. I hope he finds more photos. What's interesting about the crash picture: Looking at the mess of the car, the post looks in pretty good shape : ) Both the rear quarter window and passenger door glass didn't break... or the r...

Re: I'm freaked out. Found old photo online of my 356A

So... had a long talk on the phone with Richard, the owner of my car from the late 1960s. He said he had it for maybe 2 years, until he wrote it off. Yikes!! (photo below) He said he crashed it near the south end of the M6, which is interesting as I have a letter to Porsche UK, around 1986, from som...

Re: I'm freaked out. Found old photo online of my 356A

So, had a brief email from the owner from the mid 1960's. He said he paid £475 for it from a guy in Bornemouth. He also said he took it on an epic, European journey, '...behind the iron curtain , to Romania , Bulgaria and Greece and back through Yugoslavia to Austria and home covering 4500 miles in ...
