Re: Von Sauter roadster 1950

I also owned another Sauter This was one of approx 28 different cars built by Kurt Sauter in Switzerland. He used a variety of power plants Mine had a 4-cam motor installed. it was fairly quick and did handle (after a fashion) but it never instilled much confidence I remember you taking me out for ...

Hi Roy,

I remember seeing Porsche using the car in an advert.

Re: No Rhd Speedster?

How many T2's.One/Two? The LMP car is a T2 Hi John, This was on page 2 According to Steve Heinrichs, there were only ever 22 RHD Speedsters ever made which brakes down as: 9x Pre-A, 8x T1 356A, 4x T2 356A & 1x Convertable D (that's if I've read the Convertable D part correctly ) if not that's 5...

Re: Denis Jenkinson 356

Personally I hope it is not restored - too many restos out there already ! Keep it time wharp ! Great to know its out there. Steve It's very well used, I don't think there's a straight panel on the car. I'm trying to get the owner to go through the brakes and get it running. It hasn't been driven s...

Re: Denis Jenkinson 356

Just like you all I have been wondering what happened to Jenks' 356, as I am a big big fan of his writings. I just assumed that the battered, bruised and rotten out shell would have been scrapped. But then again: old porsches never really die....they get rescued. Bert It's not my news to tell, so I...

Re: No Rhd Speedster?

I would estimate that between forty and fifty Speedsters were delivered into Australia RHD, both Pre A and A. According to Steve Heinrichs, there were only ever 22 RHD Speedsters ever made which brakes down as: 9x Pre-A, 8x T1 356A, 4x T2 356A & 1x Convertable D (that's if I've read the Convert...

Re: great example of dealer spin

It is believed that the 66MY cars started to roll out around chassis number 302000ish, but is a real grey area. The paint code is the only real tell (if it's a continued colour for 66) along with the ignition bezel (which is correct for this car but not 65MY), rev counter, dash knee panel, gear leve...

Re: Shift improvement on 901 dogleg

I have the opposite problem to your wife. With the seatbelt on I was struggling to reach second and fourth, so I got Tuthills 901 short shift kit fitted and it's great. Very discreet as it still fits under the factory carpet. I was offered the opinion of a good gearbox builder not to hurry the box. ...

Re: Insurance and NCB

I would avoid Admiral like the plague. I've changed my tow car in November which Admiral wouldn't/couldn't cover after I'd just renewed the old tow car in September. They charged £47 admin to cancel. Another £25 to fax over a certificate of insurance and apparently don't have an email facility. I ca...

Re: 1964 901

Don't worry, always cool to see nice early cars. There are some 64 901's in the UK though. Adam Richardson has this one: http://gallery.me.com/dakennedy/100112/CIMG1682/web.jpg?ver=13235135410001 And Tom Pead has this one: http://gallery.me.com/dakennedy/100112/901-20137/web.jpg?ver=13235136040001

Re: 1964 901

I think Signal Red & Ruby Red were available, but Mike is right, Polo Red didn't come until 66MY. The paint code will start with 66?? instead of 64?? The slash cut 911 badging on the glove box and engine cover started as soon as the 912 was launched. I've got a feeling the buttons on the dash ch...

Re: 1964 901

Everything about it was lovely, including the original Factory fitted roll bar and Speedster seats, which Peter told me are shown on the Kardex as "Ferrari Seats".... interesting, anyone ever heard them called that before? Yes - the 'Ferrari' seat was the first 'bucket' seat offered as an...
