Re: Shoulder belts into SWB shell

I would like to fit three-point seatbelts into my 1968 SWB 912 shell, but there is no seatbelt anchor on the upper B-pillar (as found on LWB cars). Would the B-pillar in my car be strong enough to take an anchor point welded-in, or were the B-pillars on LWB cars reinforced to take the extra loads e...

I've got FUW2C on my list too, Light Ivory with Black Interior. All the numbers stack up. It came in on the same batch of 5 cars which included my own car and ANW104C. It was originally ordered by someone with the surname Kendrick.

I've sent my data through to Robin to add to the database. I can hear the numbers crunching!

Re: 64 65 66 Porsche 911 RHD platform and database

The wipers always park on the passenger side regardless of driver position, it's so the wipers didn't obscure the drivers view. They then realised that water runs up the bonnet over the scuttle and up the windscreen on the drivers side, but not on the side in which they were parked, hence the swap. ...

Re: 64 65 66 Porsche 911 RHD platform and database

Hmm, the title of our thread says RHD cars. Interesting as it is the 64 Show car was LHD and stayed in the country for a minimal period. I don't see its relevance in our list. Ian Hi Ian, Yes, you're probably right. I suppose the only saving grace is that at that period a RHD car wasn't available.

Re: 64 65 66 Porsche 911 RHD platform and database

After trawling through my photos and emails, there's a full article about the first UK car right here: http://www.vierenzestig.nl/1964-porsche-911-registry/300027-64/ There's an interesting note about the importation tax and moving the car around to avoid it  This is the first UK 911. More info...

Re: 64 65 66 Porsche 911 RHD platform and database

HI Does anyone have the chassis number and other details for the PCGB "project 50" RHD 901/911 race car? I know a little about the car: http://www.historika.co.uk/car-sales/details.asp?StockID=8234 It's a 1965 built 1966 model year car chassis number 302191 The story goes that it was sold...

Re: 64 65 66 Porsche 911 RHD platform and database

I probably have all the info for the 64/65 cars, but that's my specialism really, I can't help with the latter years of SWB. I've worked with Stuart Kay in Australia and we have been through what was built and distributed in RHD to both AFN and Hamiltons. I've been involved with this for over 10 yea...

Re: LYY 911D Restoration

Bit more digging and I found this article. Looks like this was built as one of the first 4 RHD 911 imports. So it would be interesting to look at the details https://www.flickr.com/photos/triggerscarstuff/sets/72157632489036020/detail/ GVB911D is a much later car than the first 4, it didn't come in...

993 Turbo/Carrera 4S Rear Callipers - Brand New

Hi All, I know these aren't strictly vintage Porsche parts, but they're getting there  These are brand new genuine Porsche 993 Turbo or Carrera 4S rear callipers with the symmetrical 28mm pistons (part numbers can be seen on the boxes). They're not 993RS as the pistons are a different size. I c...

Re: Interesting table on 356 Drag v weight

It's funny to see a difference in drag between a 56 and a 57, T1 vs T2. The only external difference being the beehive tail lights and the shine down registration plate light, can that make the difference?

Re: New 911

Agree, I believe the 66 Engine #s begin with 903551 for engine type 901.01 so yours looks like it is a Jan - Jul 65 engine. The engine isn't that early, 903360 is dated the 8th December 1965 and 903910 is 21st February 1966 which is 550 engines through that period. I would reckon it'd stick the eng...
