Re: Any 356 for sale ?

I like that a lot 8) so do I, but it reminds me of the fact that I probably shouldnt have sold my 911 for a 356 ( financially anyway ) - an on the button fully restored A for under 100 grand seems like a very good deal to me, and if that price is right, or there abouts with a little haggling.. my r...

Re: Joys of old car motoring

Getting back to Discos lucky trip I shall be fitting one of the Demon Tweeks fire extinguisher kits with a 5kg bottle and half a dozen discharge nozzles. .. thanks for the tip, I've had a good google - they look like a pretty decent system, its another 250 quid to spend, which is on the list! - I'm...

Re: Joys of old car motoring

You have been so lucky, one of the first things I decided I most definitely did not want in my 356 when I started the restoration was anything to do with petrol or its componentry inside the car. yep, I'm guessing that pretty much anything goes back in 1963 - I've followed your 356911 build and it ...

Re: Joys of old car motoring

Thanks guys. I've got an order in with the advanced fluid guys at 7.5mm appreciate the help. Thinking about it, it was a bit silly of me to risk it, given the propensity for these things to catch fire. I just couldn't be bothered with the faffing about and waiting for the AA to turn up. Amazingly it...

Joys of old car motoring

Continuing my quest to drive my car more, this year as I haven’t driven it really at all for the last 3-4, to took the family to Reigate. Simple enough. .. you’d think. Lots of admiring looks and thumbs up on the way, ( I live just on the other side of the M25, so 10-15 mins Max. And when arrived, f...

Re: 356 car battery for a 1963 'B'

thank you guys for the advice. I' bought some ionised water to add to the battery - it looked pretty dry and charged up the battery. No dice - seemed to charge it, ie there was power coming from the battery, but no grunt to start the car... so I went for the battery that Neil suggested - I like the ...

Re: 356 car battery for a 1963 'B'

Ok cool - thank you. I’m going to try with dioinised water first, I hate to throw away what was a perfectly good battery, but suspect I’m throwing ( not much ) money down the drain here... cheers again.

Re: 356 car battery for a 1963 'B'

Thanks Neil, appreciate the advice - they look expensive - any reason why I should pay twice as much for a battery than say a standard one? - genuine question as I have zero idea about these kind of things?

Many thanks

Long time no speak/ ask folks.! Looks like my battery has given up the ghost. = even though I had it on charge/trickle charge all winter.... knowing nothing about the 6v Battery, is there anything I should consider before going out and buying a new one? and if I need to, is there a place everyone go...

Re: Any 356 for sale ?

interesting to hear such negative comments about the 356B. how come? - because its not got disk breaks? I get that the A is much better looking, you'll look cool in a A,B or C on the kings road to pretty much everyone who isnt a porsche bore. I think the porsche bores need to consider their surround...

Re: Off topic watch chat for the horologists out there

bit of a beginner question, but is there a good brand of strap - good, but not super expensive. Looking for brown leather and my ruler says 17mm wide. Thanks Graham You sure 17mm? Quite unusual not to be 16 or 18 Have a look at Everest straps. Pretty well put together, but not overly cheap! I bough...
